I know OFB locally produces Zittaras. Those are a local copy of the micro tavors, not the TAR-21 that (I think) is being talked about here. The micro tavor cannot be used to equip regular infantry. Those are for CQB only.

Yup..Zittara is MTAR-21 and thats why its uses MINSAS rounds for CQB...the normal Tavors with us are CTAR-21 & GTAR-21.

Horses for courses. The shorter ones are for close quarter battle, hostage rescue etc, where longer ones would be cumbersome.

The IN has a minimum height requirement, beyond that if the men are able to pass the gruelling MARCOs selection process then size is irrelevant.

Apparently, according to Prasun Sengupta (where these pics are from) these guys are not really MARCOs. I had my doubts too about these guys but intrigued as to the truth. He promises he will explain later.

It is Sagar Prahari Bal SSB is a different force which doesnt come under the IN,VBSS teams and QRT's at Bases where MARCOS is present,these chaps tried for MARCOS but couldnt make it maybe they dropped out quite late hence they form the nucleus of the SPB and QRT's.
