We had locally built Tavors named as Zittara, but coz of our local manufacturing it gone heavy and barrel gone lengthy :s

and the SF arent using any of them all their tavors are imported, poor paramilitary chaps are stuck with the zittara's

This rifle costs much more than other standard rifles, thats the reason.

Then why is MoD trying to replace INSAS as it is a pretty good low cost battle rifle. So I think money is not a problem.

Do Zittara have any problem. Also can someone tell me the difference b/n 5.56 x 45 NATO and 5.56 x 30 Minsas round.

The problem zittara has is its made by OFB one need not say anything beyond that ,now MINSAS is the Indian CQB round for Zittara and the MSMC.Funny thing is SF,MARCOS,NSG main CQB folks are not using it as of now.

Actually I believe IA SF (+possibly MARCOs) have the Zittara in their possession but only use it in certain cases so have not been pictured with it as of now.

They do keep them also INSAS and SLR in their armory but seldom use them, since its very use to use UBGL,MARS sights with the IMI versions so they use those.

I think Paras uses CTAR-21 too..The Minsas rounds produces less muzzle velocity than standard NATO rounds..But the Minsas rounds are lighter and has good penetration capabilities like standard NATO rounds.

Still waiting on confirmation of the identity of these guys. Will be very interesting to find out.
