Indian MoD to Push for 124 More MBT Arjun Mark II - DRDO's CLGM to replace Israeli LAHAT Missile!

Our fetish for foreign products as against Indigenous products is never ending .

Good to see that DM is pushing for Arjun Mk2 ...

hopefully trials are thudding success and Arjun Mk2 gets inducted asap ....

I think he means to convey same ....just got wording bit wrong in a zest ...

it should have been " I can not support Parrikar any less "

While I also want the Indian tanks inducted, I don't know if I full blame the Army. The forces unltimately prefer war proven machines. No matter how good specs look, they'd be distrustful for a machine that is not from a family that has seen war. I think that bias is probably what has led to them pushing back the Arjun. They're probably ok with it in small nos. but not large. Plus the weight of the Arjun means we'll have to make the border infra stronger which is an additional burden.

Indian army knows certain things but not everything. Its a team

I think the biggest issue for the military is reliability. Even if the DRDO makes a great weapon, a major hiccup I see is in the area of manufacturing. If Ordinace factories and PSU's make more moneyfrom selling spares and parts, what's not to say they won't purposefully ruin the machines, so they are steady making money? That's an issue for concern for me....its ripe for corruption.

Cannon Launch Missile Development Programme
The main objective of the project is to design, develop, test, and demonstrate a semi-active Laser
homing cannon launched missile that can be launched from 120mm gun and a tripod. All sub-systems
of missile have been developed. Instrumented development flight tests were conducted from tripod
launcher.Dynamic performance of propulsion system was satisfactory. Ballistic range > 6 km was
achieved. Mid-course guidance capability has been successfully tested. Main High explosive anti-tank
(HEAT) warhead tested against rolled homogeneous armour (RHA) and a consistent penetration of
>750mm were achieved. A gimbaled laser seeker with a seeking range of ~2km has been developed
and flight tested. :smitten::cheesy:

And forget about a rifled gun, rifled guns for tanks are things of past.Just like many other things in history, their time came and then went away. And I dare say that the presently used rifled gun is the single most weakness in the Arjun's design. The future Mk3 variant should be fitted with a 140 mm high velocity smooth barrel gun of at least L/50 caliber.............or at least we should go for a licensed version of the Rheinmetall L/55 1200mm guns of the Leopard 2A6.

So, why lots of R&D going on for Rifled gun like development of CLGM etc?

I really hope PM Modi ji reveals the files that were kept hidden by these anti-national vermin for 60 years.

As Indian citizens we all have a right to know what happened to our national hero.

As for those Indians here who still firmly believe that Gandhi and Nehru were 'leaders' of our country, here is a little snapshot of what these two horrible anti-India people were actually doing:

Can you share the news paper source please?

Indian Army would obviously be taken into confidence! They recently ordered 40 Arjun Catapults and 118 Arjun Mark II tanks and will order more in the future - It has already cleared its first round of user trails conducted by the Indian Army last year.
