What's new

Indian Ministry of Defense (MoD) has been offered a new co-development of Meteor 2 Missile with the United Kingdom

Don't trust the source. If true this is very good news.

"Indian Ministry of Defense (MoD) has been offered a new co-development of a Joint Air-to-Air Missile with the United Kingdom that will be based on the MBDA’s Meteor Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM) technologies but will be far superior with the addition of the Indian technologies."

And the jokes continue:

"MBDA UK offer to India is on similar lines but India is working with Russia on the development of its Meteor called as Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR)":lol:

Indians have become so obsessed with Meteor that they now consider it to be an entirely new class of missiles all together :lol: it's no longer just an AAM, but a Meteor

We are only playing catchup to the mighty JF-17 and PL-15 combo. Since Rafale is completely outgunned by the JF-17 and we don't have unlimited resources to buy newer planes that can be better than the Thunder, we are attempting to standardize our options - Meteor is the best option we have. I wouldn't call it obsessive. I think it's pretty smart.

India should join if offered. The deal should include ToT and the building of production facilities in India. India seriously needs to build up its indigenous defense manufacturing capability, it's lacking for a country of its size.

Why would you need to play catch up when even MBDA needs Indian technology to improve their missiles? :rolleyes1:

Lol. Can't get the flying samosa up in the air with Indian and 100+ foreign parts but going to offer Indian Tech to UK.

Eat samosa and enjoy. Do not expose your hugh degree of knowledge here.

it's, about sharing cost
sharing technology
about the massive orders that will.arise from.both India and uk.

it's.also a renewed effort to regain a foothold in the massive indian arms market for British military hardware

indian military imports was previously Russia now is America Israel and France.

uk are trying to gauge indian interest in British submarines and even the tempest fighter

but France and Israel even usa are pushing their equipment too

This type of collaboration brings in advance missiles in short time , lower cost and better technology. They had offered India a partnership in 5th gen plane as well.

Very valid point.

Astra project seems to be all full of lies and untruth. The videos could be of some other missile being touted as Astra.
India hasn’t learnt anything from that project and can’t bring anything on the table for any A to A missile development.

In fact, India should learn from Pakistan about contributing to a project like JF-17. China wouldn’t have been able to produce JF-17 without technical know how from Pakistan. Pakistan brought in some critical technologies and knowhow on combat aircraft development. A truly joint aircraft. That’s what is called bringing something on the table.

Alas, my Indian brethren fail to learn.

As the Indians are so advance do the mighty Indians need the British for any co-development?
