I am working with an MNC and we do most soft. architecture and design work for them. Its a big joke " CODER".:rofl:

Thanks

:smokin: sure, architecture and design.

can I ask what is the architecture? J2EE with some fancy MS SQL at your backend? or maybe php+mysql+apache?

.
I seriously cant understand why people ( Indian) here are getting hurt when someone says that most of us are doing code coolly work?

Don't we all know that 95% of Us really do low end job? But at the same time 5% of fortunate us do real high end job. May be I am lucky who saw both sides.

nationalism. they feel hurt when there is any comment about the backwards of their country.

in those narrowed minds, india IT == india == their personal lives.

.
shchinese, fella, why are you insisting on a public display of your great knowledge? will that make a difference to the topic of the thread, that Mphasis is going to hire 2000 Sri Lankans over the next three years? If it makes you jealous, you're done. If it does not, then too you are done with it.

So better let it go than to express your angst by trying to interview a guy through a defence forum of a third country. It is ridiculous. Get it!

my point here is clear -- india's IT industry is in general a failure, because:

1. in 30 years, there is no single product line such as google or yahoo that can be used by ordinary people on a daily basis.
2. the total revenue of india's IT industry is only about 50% of the Chinese one.
3. india's IT industry is all about cheap coding tasks outsourced from the EU and US. there is no innovation, very little design work.
4. the biggest problem of india's IT industry is the fact that it takes almost all the smart indians working in india but failed to generate real social and economic impacts in a national scale.

based on the above issues, in fact serious issues, any expansion to countries like Sri Lanka should not be regarded as "creating jobs", it is more like spread failures.

In short, I have strong concerns about the career future of those 2000 Sri Lanka employees working for those low end indian IT companies, they deserve a better career path, something better than outsourcing.

are we clear now?

in case if any indian want to argue just because you believe india's IT industry is great, then please ask me a few questions regarding your daily lives:

1. how many of you living in india pay your bills online?
2. how many of you living in india do online shopping on a weekly basis? how much you spend every month?
3. how many indian kids (i.e. your kids/bros) play native online PC games designed and implemented in india?
4. how many india made software (downloader, music/video player, p2p software kind of stuff) are installed in your personal computer that you use at home?

or in case you refuse to face the above questions, fine, let's try this simple one:

is there any indian search company has this particular thread indexed on their server and can be easily searched with the following randomly chosen key words "INDIA IT COMPANIES CAN NOT BUILD SEARCH ENGINE IN THE NEXT 5 DECADES"?

if you want to troll, show me the search result, either via a link or screenshot. :smokin:

You obviously live in a cloud. The Pentium chip designer was an Indian.

No, my friend TexasJaswinder, one of the designers of the Pentium was an Indian-American.

Most software professionals in India are not programmers, they are mere coders

Absolutely 100% correct.

In fact, most IT programmers are just plain coders, whether they are Indian, American or Norwegian. In the business world, they are called 'code monkeys'. This includes so-called designers and architects. Most design/architecture is a cookie-cutter rehash of established patterns and requires very little original, creative thought. I challenge any 'software architect' to tell me if they use even 5% of computer science theory they learned in college. In fact the term 'software engineer' itself is controversial.

Western firms hire Indian IT workers mostly as a cheap supply of 'code monkeys'. There are R&D centers for the few talented individuals, who get paid much better salaries, but those are mostly in hardware and are a tiny fraction of the total IT industry.

In any case, most people have missed the whole point of the article. Sri Lanka now provides better value for money than India. Since IT wages in India have gone up, most of the guys with actual talent are overpriced. For the same money that you would get an average, mediocre coder in India, you can get a far more talented individual in Sri Lanka. Or Vietnam. Or Phillipines.

If we do something unique they call those bad practices in design archeitecture and coding

shchinese,

In Page 1, you were asked one question right when you started your ranting. The question was:

If Indian IT companies are such a huge joke, then how can you explain this fact that the Chinese government actually invited an Indian IT company to start their branch in China?

You still searching for the answer?

I agree and conformity is not always bad. Sometimes, not always, things are popular for a reason, because they have stood the test of time. Other times, it's just a passing fad but you have to go along anyway because your client wants a 'standards compliant' system that can be maintained by others when you are done.

My point was that most IT work is routine and procedural, which any halfway intelligent person can pick up with some training.

Something a particular poster is not able to understand

Other than shchinese, other normal Chinese folks seem to thing Indian IT companies are fine! :toast_sign:

China wants its own Bangalore, invites Indian IT firms

China has invited Indian IT and business process outsourcing companies to set up more units in its IT parks and build them up at par with those in cities like Bangalore, Chennai and Pune. A delegation from Wuxi, an emerging economic zone in the Yangtze river delta, met representatives of software industries here and expressed a desire to convert their district into a “Bangalore of China”.

Yang Weize, secretary of Wuxi Municipal Communist Party of China Committee, said: “If China is the factory of the world, India has become the ‘office of the world’. This is what we want to do for ourselves. That is why we are here.”

Weize pointed out that currently Wuxi has 50 Indian companies. “We are now very keen that more of them should explore the benefits and sops we are providing.”

Janet Zhang, director of Wuxi City Investment Promotion Office, told IANS that in fiscal 2006-07 the total imports and exports by Indian companies in Wuxi was set to touch $1 billion — a growth of 50 percent.

“Moreover, in microelectronics, the total turnover touched $14 million,” she said. “It is for bilateral trade we have come here. We want to learn from India.”

Weize earlier spoke at a symposium where the delegation held talks with several IT business executives. The companies included Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Larsen and Toubro (L&T) and others.

“We have managed to sign seven memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with the Indian Merchants’ Chamber (IMC), the Maharashtra Economic Development Council (MEDC), NIIT, L&T, Technosoft, SkillNet and MultiNet Worldwide for investing in Wuxi.”

The Chinese delegation also visited New Delhi where it met representatives of the National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT).

hello new world(PDF),
I m working in oracle.its my first post, though i m a weekly visitor.here let me bust the bubble of this young chinese villager(the whole world is a village,so no offence to my dear chinese friend)
>just google out - "China eyes Indian outsourcing cos for software solutions"

See friends this IT world is mammoth and has grown beyond the limits of individuals like larry sir, bill gates,Father of Pentium,co-founders of Sun Microsystems and lots of hard working chinese, but this friend has vast love for his country(patriotism is gud :china:) but it happens when u get everything filtered.

let me educate him-

1.ur first q is ridiculous, as ur 2nd one- this all depends upon whether ur bank provides u online banking facilities or not and in india even bank of rajasthan(a tiny regional bank) offers u all the facilities(u name it,n u get it),in this technology few chinese banks still legging behind, another fact is that indians(same case in pakistan:pakistan:) still like to shop with families and there is no such trend because we argue a lot with dukandar, feriwala, subjiwala:hitwall: if this is opposite in china then its gud for china.

3.see our kids know at least 3 languages.it is a combination of 36regional+hindi(may be)+english(its for sure)+others.so we are happy with english xbox, play station etc.

4.ur really a kid,talking about silly downloader, music/video player, p2p

we are king of ERP(oracle apps,SAP) and overall IT(u name worlds top 25,u get a center in india),running enterprises and are backbone(IT) of world economy

"vasudheva kutumbakam"- jai hind,jai world.
