Nope Indus valley is in Pakistan, it is a separate civilization unique to modern day Pakistani civilizations. Due to confusion and usury of the name INDia derived from the Pakistani area of INDus, people make the mistakes and think its all the same.

With you line of argument even Bangladeshis who live 800+ miles away from Pakistan and site of IVC should be given credit for IVC. Just because BD is apart of the "Indian subcontinent" Now that's insane.

well again i come with the same point i have been putting thru out this thread. its all bout ideology. Harrapan civilization was formed by masses following certain ideology which is similar to modern hinduism (actual name is sanatan dharm). the uniqueness you are talking bout is actually different versions of india paganism (in modern terms hinduism).

in simple words, hinduism has gone thru a lot of changes as per the social requirement of every age and era. u simply can't see santan religion or hinduism with glasses of abrhamic religion like islam and judaism.

Inoculation

In ancient times in India smallpox was prevented through the tikah (inoculation). Kurt Pollak (1968) writes, "preventive inoculation against the smallpox, which was practiced in China from the 11th century, apparently came from India". This inoculation process was generally practiced in large part of Northern and Southern India, but around 1803-04 the British government banned this process. It's banning, undoubtedly, was done in the name of 'humanity', and justified by the Superintendent General of Vaccine (manufactured by Dr. E. Jenner from the cow for use in the inoculation against smallpox).

The earliest records of cataract surgery are from the Bible as well as early Hindu records. Cataract surgery was known to the Indian physician Sushruta (6th century BC – pictured above). In India, cataract surgery was performed with a special tool called the Jabamukhi Salaka, a curved needle used to loosen the lens and push the cataract out of the field of vision. The eye would later be soaked with warm butter and then bandaged. Though this method was successful, Susruta cautioned that cataract surgery should only be performed when absolutely necessary.

Pachisi is a cross and circle board game that originated in ancient India which has been described as the "national game of India".

Parcheesi, Sorry! and Ludo are among the many Westernized versions of the game.

Indians(read hindus) were never the invaders. they worked for betterment of a civilization not geographical expansion of a civilization. Hence, proved. :)

10 Ancient Indian Inventions

1. Bow drill:

The bow drill is an ancient tool. While it was usually used to make fire, it was also used for primitive woodworking and dentistry. It consists of a bearing block or handhold, a spindle or drill, a hearth or fireboard, and a simple bow. Related drills include the pump drill and the hand drill.

The bow drill appeared in Mehrgarh(present day-Pakistan) between the 4th-5th millennium BCE. This bow drill was used to drill holes into lapis lazuli and cornelian. It was made of green jasper and was basically used to make ornaments. Similar drills were found in other parts of the Indus Valley Civilization and Iran one millennium later.

2. Cockfighting:

cockfight is a blood sport between two roosters, held in a ring called a cockpit.

The combatants, known as gamecocks, are specially bred birds, conditioned for increased stamina and strength. In many areas around the world, cockfighting is still practiced as a mainstream event; in some countries it is government controlled.

Cockfighting was a pastime in the Indus Valley Civilization by 2000 BC. The Encyclopedia Britannica (2008)—on the origins of cockfighting—holds: "The game fowl is probably the nearest to the Indian red jungle fowl (Gallus gallus), from which all domestic chickens are believed to be descended...The sport was popular in ancient times in India, China, Persia, and other Eastern countries and was introduced into Greece in the time of Themistocles (c. 524–460 BCE). The sport spread throughout Asia Minor and Sicily. For a long time the Romans affected to despise this "Greek diversion," but they ended up adopting it so enthusiastically that the agricultural writer Columella (1st century AD) complained that its devotees often spent their whole patrimony in betting at the side of the pit."

In present day India, Cockfighting is favourite sport of people living in the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts of Karnataka,(South India).

Cockfighting in Tamil Nadu is mentioned in ancient literature like Manu Needhi Sastiram, Kattu Seval Sastiram, and other sangam-age literature, 2,000 years old.

Let us not lump in the inventions and great civilization of Ancient Pakistan with ancient india, our land has been largely separate and distinct from the ganges based bharati civilization.

Bow drill FTW, what an amazing invention. Believe it or not it was also used in dentistry, very painful but apparently it worked. I'm very proud of the IVC, great ancient civilization.
