Indian Ground Forces....The Future.

My good man buying 1 million gun is not an easy thing to do will cost us huge

You dont need a million troopes to win a war. A better gun always makes a force more potent. Higher kill probability. Insaas is a weapon made for injuring enemies not killing them. But in terms of Kargil war policy doesnt worked out. If we can equip Our forces with these new guns than ability of our forces will get a real boost.
And your point about lake of money is not a problem, if we can spend 10 billion for MMRCA than we can procure better guns for our infantries.

As part of the Indian Army's phased future infantry soldier as a system (F-INSAS) programme to create a fully integrated infantry soldier, Army HQ has floated requirements for a new assault rifle that will, potentially, be license-built in large numbers. A questionaire provided with RFI points to what the Army is looking for in its new ambidextrous assault rifle:

The Army has put down its preference for a modular assault rifle with changeable multiple caliber barrels to support 5.56x45mm, 7.62x39mm, 7.62x51mm, 6.8x43mm and 6.5 Grendel rounds. The rifle needs to have an integrated sighting system that includes a luminous tipped flip-up iron sight, telescopic sight and a holographic reflex sight with a visible laser illuminator. It clearly wants an advanced under-barrel grenade launcher with a standalone firing mode governed by a multipurpose fire control system.

When Inducted this weapon system Indian armed forces can kick some Naxali and Terrorist a$$

the K11 assault rifle can serve the IA well for F-INSAS but as of right now REPLACE INSAS!!!!!!!!!!!

first of all INSAS is not obsolete .... it is specifically designed for our needs.... we clearly cant afford to buy assault rifle for our million strength army....

bro... as much as it hurts me to say this INSAS is one word is crap it is designed to injure and maim enemies not kill them IA Jawans using them in Kashmir and COIN in the tribal belt have said it has malfunctioned while in use, including during the Kargil war where our soldiers were sitting ducks its orange camo is unsuitable for IA requirements as it reveals position of the soldier very easily

it is better to have a soldier with a good assault rifle than a dead soldier with a bad assault rifle OFB should not be allowed to produce firearms any more they use crappy material in the rifles which is another reason for the malfunction of the rifle i'd say have TATA or Larsen & Touboro or BDL mass produce them instead

Yup, true.

me also agree with u some points... but INSAS is not designed for CI operations... thats the reason we are widely using Tavors as well different versions of AK in kashmir as well North east.....
INSAS meant for its accuracy that is heavly required for infantry soldier in battlefield situation...... but still it is not comparable with modern assault rifles...

INSAS rifles should not even be used in reserve they just need to go ASAP OFB cannot produce rifles anymore either the quality of the firearms from OFB can range from good to extremely piss poor once again Kargil war in 1999 our soldiers had to use INSAS rifles like clubs and used they're bayonets rather than firing There are even stories of picking up the enemies AK and using it because the INSAS had malfunctinoed

in the meantime the IA should buy a proven off the shelf platform until F-INSAS i'd say either;

my choice would be this the Daewoo K2 :)

or for F-INSAS the rifle choice could be the Daewoo K11 (picture above)

do u have any idea abt the unit cost of k11... it touches around 12000$ ...

our country is not in a position to spend billions only for assault rifles...

nonetheless it can be license produced at TATA or L&T or BDL rather than buying directly from Daewoo

if we can spend 10 billion dollars for 126 fighter jets i am quite sure we can spend several billion for new assault rifles

make the insas all black, like this:
images

making it look black won't change the fact the gun is crap it really pisses me off the army actually gives this garbage obsolete gun to our soldiers to use in Kashmir and Tribal belts buying the South Korean K2 for now or even just using the TAR-21 will make our soldiers good soldiers with good guns rather than bad soldiers with bad guns

the main reason why we need to have locally produced Assault rifle is nothing but for mass production so we dont have any situation such as attrition of rifles during war....

and your comments against INSAS is completely baseless.. yes there was some issues during kargil... but it has undergone heavy modification and army is quite happy with its performance.....

Still its havier than modern assault rifles. For a army only trying to compete with smaller neibours it might be useful. But thread is regarding making IA one of the best and most modern Ground forces in the world, INSAAS really lags behind. We have the economy and IA soldiers deserves the best. The same attitude like u is costing our soldiers soldiers their dear life. When netaas and baboos can spend billions for luxury , yes we can spend a few billion to provide our soldiers with best assault rifle in the world.

in emergency we could easily produce thousands of AK-47's and SLR's but thats only in emergency if we're really desperate we could just pull out the old lee enfield rifles which some of our police forces STILL use today

Baseless?

Saddled with Insas, Army wants new AK-47s - Times Of India

i'm only saying what needs to be said INSAS is junk i'd rather use a M1 Garrand than an INSAS idk about MK2 or whatever but some of the INSAS problems have still not been fixed and if you have any proof that says so i'd like to see it :)
