@SpArK @Guynextdoor2 @acetophenol @Bang Galore @sancho
Please read all of the above and tlel me is it still "shooting the messenger" to question the motives of Leslie Udwin?

Here she is telling outrageous lies:

Questioning the motives/funding of this one documentary is NOT the same as either condoning sexual assualt OR saying "all is well in India, there is no need for introspection". All I am saying is this film maker AND the BBC need to face some serious questions and the IB and MHA better get their act together and investigate this entire mess post haste, there is clearly a lot going on behind the scenes here.

And tell me why it isn''t important to keep digging deepr and exposing this nonsense @SpArK

It is about much more than that interview now though, yes this was the catalyst that caused this film to be banned but it was just the tip of the iceberg in the web of duplicity and subderfuge going on in the making and then telecasting of this documentary.

Are you saying the above article that examines the very eloborate and odd funding structure of this film doesn't give you any cause for concern?

What does the documentary suggests?

A portion of Indian men are sexually starved (Mukesh admits he had sex just once before)- True.

A portion of Indian men are chauvinistic- True. The number of people who thinks girls should not be freely around is huge.

Our judicial system is slow- True

NEW DELHI: Awindra Pandey – the sole witness of the Dec 2012 savage gang-rape of a 23-year-old physiotherapist in New Delhi — has called British filmmaker Leslee Udwin's documentary "India's Daughter" on the murder and assault 'fake', said a report published on IBN Live.

Pandey, who was a friend of the victim, has supported the central government’s decision to ban “India's Daughter” which features a controversial interview with one of the convicts, Mukesh Singh.

According to the IBN Live report, he termed Udwin's handling of the issue as insensitive.

"The documentary is unbalanced as the victim's viewpoint is missing. The facts are hidden and the content is fake. Only Nirbhaya and I know what happened on that night and the documentary is far from the truth," said Pandey who had fought with the rapists to save his friend, but was overpowered and beaten brutally.

Earlier last week, India obtained a court order banning the film, which included the interview with Singh, on the grounds that it risked fueling public anger.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh said comments in which Singh blamed the 23-year-old victim, and said she should not have been out at night were “highly derogatory and an affront to the dignity of women”.

Take a look: India bans broadcast of gang-rapist documentary

Further backing his claim, Pandey said that he had never heard the name of tutor Satendra, who makes an appearance in the documentary.

"How does he know which movie I wanted to watch on that night," he questioned.

In the documentary, the tutor said:

"Awindra Pandey wanted to watch an action film while the victim wanted to watch 'Life of Pi'."

The victim's friend said a controversy was created unnecessarily and sensationalised.

"The documentary made fun of emotions and questioned the law and order situation in our country," he claimed in the IBN Live report.

Pandey was of the opinion that even though things slipped out of the Indian government's hand, it nonetheless took timely action.

Alleging that the film had 'stained' India's image and questioned the country's law and order situation, he went on to add that the documentary showed that any individual can enter the Central Jail of any country and interview a criminal.

On being asked whether he was approached to be a part of the film, he replied in the affirmative saying: "I was approached by many people when it started one and a half years ago in 2013. I did not want to be part of it as I was not convinced by its motive. Also, I was not mentally prepared and had health issues as well."

Look at this article. The documentary does not have any words of Jyotis friend who was with her, true. Other than that, the only valid point he raises is whether the film was Life of Pie or not. What difference does it make? How does that make the documentary fake? Doesn't it contain the words of the convicts, lawyers and the parents themselves?

What are we trying to fight? Yes, this very could have been an attempt to defame India. But are they making things up? No. Are they twisting facts? No. Don't we have grown up men who are sexually starved? How effectively can a Indian man can rely on masturbation until he gets married ,mostly at the age of 25-30 years, as in our society sex is such a taboo. Combine that with poverty, irresponsibility and alcohol , I would be surprised if incidents like this don't happen.

Yes, Indian people will stand against rape anytime of the day. But what has it caused? Are the root causes of rape in India addressed? Are we ready to see a women working late at night as something usual? Are our courts fast in delivering justice? Can we say majority of our women enjoys same privileges as men? Or can we atleast say, we are in the right direction?

Yes, I am a bit pisssed off as my country is being called the rape capital, but I support this documentary as it is a smashing sledgehammer against some problems in the country-Chauvinism.

.
couldn't agree more .............. no body has the right to blame a nation for individual crimes which is not only happening in india but in the whole world including pakistan as well .... Both pakistan and india need to cop with this issue sooner than later ... but no other country/media has the right to sensationalize this issue and blame the whole nation for this crime
agree. it was my mistake to generalize whole Pakistanis because of some terrorists. I wont do it again.
but I still hate Pakistanis:D

Thats what the government is trying to avoid and hence ban on movie in India.
please understand that this issue and outrage led to ouster of state government and galvanized public support like never before.
A lot of Indian members (including myself) have already said that problem of rapes in India isn't going to get solved by putting some people in jail or tougher punishments, unless people change their mentality and start showing some respect towards women.
but that bit said nobody has right to show India in wrong light, the way this movie portrays (i haven't seen the movie, but several reports already indicate it dramatizes the whole event incorrectly).
& besides, if these instances happen again, we as citizens should be ashamed, not necessarily government, for, as PM Modi said in last I day speech, we could not control our sons.

.
Unfortunately India doesnt have control over its media to target certain countries.

i watched a NDTV "debate",on women's day, there were several female feminazis who kept going on and on about their rights.there was one woman who tried to bring to light false rape cases and harrashment by girls on men but was shut off repeatedly by the feminazi anchor.
There is a reason why NDTV was vehemently against the ban on this movie & their bias towards pseudo-liberals!

MOS for home at the time permission was given to BBC : RPN Singh
Presenting the show on NDTV: Wife of RPN Singh (Sonia Singh)
Channels involved : BBC / NDTV
Indian channel to telecast the program on women's day: NDTV

You need to watch it and without preconceived notions (Impossible as it may sound) and then come to a conclusion.. I feel lots of people who are over the top critical of it have not even bothered to watch it.. A small piece of advice if i may try not to see the rapists interview as the central theme of the film, It is not.. Even though the nay sayers are focusing solely on it

I wouldn't generalize bro, there would be sane minds every where. Besides stereotypes will exist no matter what, its a product of ignorance.

Rather than calmly accepting this documentary, we have bashed and bashed and bashed it to the everest of fame. Banning it was the first mistake, had it not been banned, it certainly would not have achieved this publicity.

Not true.. That notion gives out a very narrow point of view on humanity

Cooproducer is fake .The sponsors are fake.Film company is a fake.Corruption in Tihar jail.Didnt give any explain for her stay in India after six months of journalist visa .
The guys who secretly fund this film is from a NGO that is already under the watch of Indian agencies.
Forget about it .The corporate media BBC that circulated this docu is known for covering up of the serial rapist, that happened to be an employee in BBC.And they also earned a lot of commercial benefit .
Dude Actually who is right and who is wrong ?
Can we allow the circumventing of our laws by a white woman for her own reputation?
Our law is our priority and also govt priority .
That is why they banned this film.

Not true.. That notion gives out a very narrow point of view on humanity

Look at the thread of that German Professor retardness. You will get it.
