Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar to visit Bangladesh on Thursday to invite PM Hasina for visit

. .
BD is a brother country. Relationship with BD should be in the priority list of India even if there is More give than take. We can cooperate, ally and prosper to gather.

Hasina has backed my narrative by offering Chitagong port to India for use. Though some fanatic guys may raise the issues but India-BD relations are historic and deep rooted.

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar on Thursday said despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, both India and Bangladesh have remained regularly in touch with each other in boosting bilateral ties, Trend reports citing ANI.

Addressing the Joint Press Interaction in Dhaka, Jaishankar said: "My visit today, is aimed at continuing the progress in deepening our engagement. It is in keeping with the strength and spirit of our bilateral ties. As neighbours, the regularity and the informality and the cordiality of our interaction is a very good reflection of trust and confidence.

He also informed that he had the privilege to call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today afternoon and conveyed the greetings and good wishes of PM Modi.

"We discussed a number of issues. We reviewed bilateral ties as well as regional and global issues," he said.

Speaking on the 7th round of the Joint Consultative Commission, Jaishankar said that India is looking forward to welcoming Bangladesh counterpart AK Abdul Momen.
"This meeting will provide a good opportunity to lay the ground for the next level of our relationship which we hope would be underlined when the Prime Minister visits India," he said.

In view of our strong people-to-people connect, the External Affairs Minister noted that the connectivity between India and Bangladesh is back to pre-Covid levels. "we are looking at resuming cross-border bus and railway services, shortly after Eid."

"I am also very encouraged to see that decisions taken by our leaders last year to commemorate Maitree Diwas in 18 capitals apart from Dhaka and New Delhi, the establishment of the first Bangabandhu Chair in India, the Suborno Jayanti Scholarships for students from Bangladesh, and the Bangabandhu-Bapu Digital Exhibition have all been implemented. These are all in keeping with the spirit of solidarity between us which we hope to pass on to the younger generations," Jaishankar said further in the statement.

The External Affairs Minister also expressed satisfaction that the trade, disbursement of loans on bilateral projects, travel services and investment are at new heights and they have recovered the momentum which was lost during the COVID-19.

He asserted that India also looks forward to stronger sub-regional cooperation in connectivity and other areas.

"The energy sector, particularly the hydropower domain, offers opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries in the region. India is a large producer and consumer of energy and we are very glad to work with our neighbours in that TAGS India Bangladesh ties Jaishankar in Bangladesh Joint Press Interaction in Dhakaegard, including in the BBIN framework. And I want to say that India will continue to take the lead to structure progressive partnerships for production, transmission and trade in our region in this area," he said.

I feel that with the natija of BGMEA head honcho trips to New Delhi recently, meeting with Shingara (Shringla), and various other indications, Bangladesh might just agree with an FTA proposed by India.

Of course Mr. Jaishankar was here to invite Hasina to New Delhi - and the major details will become visible at that event with the signing of agreements at a high level then. Only speculation at this time until they take off the wraps which may include Teesta-related stuff.

I would also watch if Mamta Didi is invited to Delhi at that point. if she is not going, then no progress will happen regarding Teesta. Teesta is WB issue and Modi cannot do jack if Mamta Didi refuses to play ball...

disbursement of loans on bilateral projects,
Bangladesh did not ask for loans from the self-declared big brother India. But, India is force-pushing this $500 million loan through the BD throat that tastes bitter to BD.

India has also forced BD to buy a few nuts and bolts for the military under this loan scheme. India is a shameless country, especially when Modi is its PM and the heinous BJP is the ruling party.

Mamata is there to look after the interest of west Bengal. To offset the effects of reduced Teesta flows, BD should build another barrage at the Teesta mouth with Brahmaputra and contain water within the 105 km of Teesta length inside BD.

But, BD is building a Beautification Project, instead. I feel very sad for the sorry state of mind of our top politicians/ bureaucrat clique who are unable to make correct decisions, always putting the cart in front of the horses.

I have heard that someone has already sent a revised plan for the Teesta project to the Chinese Ambassador in Dhaka and I hope, the Chinese side recommend a barrage at the Teesta mouth.

However, to suggest such a thing is against the diplomatic norm. China may not recommend anything, They will supply the money, construct the project as per BD's genius planning and BD will become more in Chinese debt.

Let us have FTA with India.

BD electronics companies can then flood India with quality but competitive electronic products.

Of course massive VAT will need to be put on cars in order to discourage Indian automakers from trying to flood BD with cars as it wants to discourage mass car usage in such a densely populated country. As BD does not have a car industry then BD itself does not suffer.

India can try to sell a little bit more pharmaceuticals into BD but BD companies should be ready to face off against them and as a bonus have a much larger Indian market to sell to.

Does Modi have the guts to implement FTA with BD? We shall find out soon.

The dude is suffering from severe homesickness as an international student in Europe.
Home is wherever you go.

Are you aware that contemporary Europa (originating from the sanskrit word) was once a part of Moharani Pratap's akhanda bhorat? From Vladivostok to Havana, his dominion covered 48 distinct time zones. That is, until Aurangzeb (who was funded by Pakistan) brought Pratap's dominion to an end in 3122 AD during the Indo-Wakandan war.

Hassina has proved to be a great leader and administrator, even better her father.
Hasina's father was a great leader but no good administrator. He was more of a street agitator to tell you frankly.

However, we needed that kind of brave leader to get separated from west Pakistan. He was tall and handsome, too. From being Shaikh family, all of their men are handsome. Think of Shaikh Moni and his son Taposh the current Dhaka south City Mayor.
