indian double decker trains : any idea when will it be operational ?

They can sit on the concourse level. There are three levels.

Does this photo help? Basically the seats you see in foreground are in level with the platform. Sp handicapped people won't have to climb any steps.

Yaaa I know but when you book through IRCTC there is no special category for ph and you have to ask others to switch the chairs and it is my personal experience…. Leave the old trains but at least why don’t they plan the new once disable friendly..

I doubt these would be used a reserved seat coaches, most probably be used as jan shatabdi coaches. So the seats on the concourse level can be demarcated for disabled/elderly/women with kids, like they do on buses.

But yes agreed, Indian railways need to be more disabled friendly. We ll get there slowly though, look at all the new buses and metro trains being rolled out. They are all disabled friendly. :cheers:
