Indian defense forces could join fight against ISIS soon

Nothing just sensationalism........ GoI position in involving such conflicts are very clear, Get UN onboard......... This was the case irrespective of the party held the power....... I do not see any reason for changing the stand now,

This is a very interesting piece of news. What would India stand to gain in this? Nothing. It does not make any political, diplomatic or economic sense for India to get involved in ISIS.

Some are talking about India getting into Afghanistan. All the while India has been doing her lot to make Afghan stand on their own feet. India, instead of feeding afghans fish, would rather teach them to fish. With a 300 thousand army Afghans will learn to defend themselves and will also learn the art of diplomacy. Crushing own people will only aggravate their problems. If there is always a bigger power helping them, afghans will keep putting pakistan and their own taliban sympathizers on edge which is not good for them in the long run.

As regards to Kashmir, we dont need any bronie points from anyone. The world has started to understand and accept India's stand on Kashmir.

We cant send soldiers to die for a fight thats not our own. But neither can we sit by and watch atrocities being committed all over the world. Send weapons to Iraq, train their troops and perhaps even give them some economic aid - but dont even consider sending Indian ground forces into that hellhole.

First of all,I am totally against sending Indian troops for fighting ISIS in ME!!!!!!!
But for the the second i agree with the news and India send troop to fight how can you say our solider are not trained, man in the whole world i think Indian forces are best suited for COIN operation , as we have decades of experience in Kashmir and North East in fighting terrorist. we have some of the best warfare school in this type war scenario, just last year more than 37 countries have send their solider to get trained in these school. US for last 5 year is keep on sending largest contingent of approx 400 instructor and solider (per year) which include their special forces like Green beret,etc. We are training Afghanistan officer and solider which is almost the same type war they are facing in Afghanistan.

1st this whole thing of sending troops to ME won't happen

1. what does indian government mean sending indian army into "peace missions" in syria?? syria is a sovereign nation and if it all does need outside help it is of russia - the eastern bloc... there cannot be western bloc members in syria, because then it becomes a invasion force.

2. indian army is already part of a uno "peace mission" in golan heights or lebanon, one of those two.

We've been involved in CT operations for a very long time.No one would doubt the professionalism of these guys.
