What's new

Indian defense forces could join fight against ISIS soon

Not so cool.
We must tread carefully...we do know India earned brickbats for its peacekeeping in SL.
As I said, we should begin by helping in non-combatant roles. But we MUST help.
We will deal carefully for sure. We must send troops but also we must check if we have learned from previous issues or not. In this century we would not be going alone for sure, and we may need to send soldiers abroad. We cannot linger in the past.

.
Its nothing cool bro. But we must help the people there specialy Yazidis.

You cannot deny the awesomeness of an Indian CBG in the persian gulf. It would be some much needed experience for our naval and air units who are stuck doing military excersices.

.
If anyone have seen few videos of ISIS anarchy, their theories, their world wide support and their torture videos and mass killings of Minority Yazidi people and taking their women as sex slaves must say we should contribute our ways to destroy this evil.

.
There are always risks in military operations, it cannot be avoided and helping in non combatant roles is as good as not helping at all..
Nope I said we begin with non -combatant roles...analysing military data is one such role.

I am pretty sure we are already analyzing data from the war. If any commitment is made right now then preparations and training for such an event would have been made months prior to any official announcement. Its all just speculation. If there is an official announcement this republic day then the govt. has a pretty good idea on what its going to do.

lol

Tehelka news...should be taken with a bag of salt.

If we can sent soldiers to Africa than why not to kill the filthiest terrorists in the world? If its true than its good to see that Modi has changed India's 'Always Go Alone' policy.

We may not send large number of soldiers but we should send special forces.

We have only contributed troops to United Nations Peace Keeping forces ...
we should not join the bandwagon which is not blessed by UN .
US led west is doing its best to undermine multilateral institution like UN through NATO and all .
We have no business to send our youth to die in Syria ...

I will....
India should support this war against terrorism and should make sure that the so called super powers support India on Kashmir issue. It should be tit for tat.

are you serious ?

Hmm..India fighting ISIS..A few members said its not our war, who will pay, west is fighting what is d need to intervene, blah blah....
In giving your views, you all tend to forget that you all are giving these comments and views from the security of yr home n country.U all talk big that India needs to become a Super Power..but how..by manning its borders..shutting eyes to all the suffering of people of d rest of d world. Hell no, we have to take action, fight tyrants irrespective of nativity and origin..coz tyranny should b uprooted to d roots. It will lead us to loss of our army-men, our money..but we have to contribute to d peace and tranquility of d world..irrespective of d burden on us..dats our duty as a human to another..whom these ISIS doesn't consider as human..killing people in masses..esp d innocents..we have to save dem...if not others the children at least..they are d future not for our country but they are future to d world, where our children will their companions..and backlash ..common we are more tan ready for you..we will show them we can save our country and countrymen...bit of long and boring speech isn't it..

. Correct - at least you are correct about one thing .Yeh ...long and boring

.
Tehelka and its quest for inside scoop in this govt is well known.. They keep peddling lies after lies..

.
are you serious ?
Yes sir.
I had given my reasons too...
Yes there 're plenty of supporters but very few want to get recruited is the reality.

I do think India should fight against ISIS, both inside and outside India, but not like the way we had sent our troops on a peace keeping mission in SL. We 'd literally burnt our fingers back then and it was for the same reason we later declined help to Nepal and Maldives.
But its time India stopped limiting itself to south Asia, as I said earlier it should flex its pecs. The experience that our troops get will only be a bonus. We can also in limited capacity participate in non-combat ways and arenas. We can help the international coalition against the IS in reconnaissance missions with its non-combat military personnel analysing the military data. Include refueling and transit facilities for troops too. We participate but in a limited capacity ....is doable.
And lets not forget that India figures among the 11 countries the Islamic State has threatened. We will have to face ISIS sooner or later.

You can address me as Indo-guy ..that is fine .

I do not agree with contention of few members here that we should join fight against ISIS .
Our hands are already full with number of internal and external threats that we are besieged with .
At this point of time at least India have no reasons to send troops say even in non combat role to Syria or whatever .

We have always believed in multilateral institution like UN .
and for very obvious reasons - West is trying best to undermine the authority of UN ...by expanding NATO led operations . there are reasons why we refused to be part of War on Terror .
Has UNSC authorized such operation ?

Does India really want to be part of coalition which is going to undermine the UN ?

Sure India can send peace keeping forces though UN as we have bee doing for long time .But we have no reason to be part of any other narrow group which has its own agenda .

and your expectations that Superpowers will support India on Kashmir is simply naive .It is not going to happen . You know very well how for last 2 decades International community refused to look at Indian suffering due to terrorism . They clearly have double standards in this regard .

India should not go beyond extending moral support . we have enough of our own problems to deal with .
It makes sense to solve our own first before jumping into problems where we have no say .

are we done with insurgency in Kashmir ? are we done with Naxalism ? are we done with Maoists ? are we done with Bodo militants ? are we done with those number of militant groups active elsewhere in India ?

No . we are not done yet .

we better finish job in our hand first ...

I had mentioned earlier too that if India participates in war against ISIS then it will only and only if US and others support India on kashmir issue. We would not accept their lackadaisical attitude in this matter or else we wont participate...as good as that.

You can address me as Indo-guy ..that is fine .
Your username is just too long..I prefer sir.

.
We should in no way send thousands and thousands of troops in a full fledged war.Instead stick to bombing ISIS targets or sending small amount troops or stick to special forces..

.
we do have a reason

so your argument that India should participate is because somebody included india is ISIS map ?

well I can't see why Nepal, Sri lanka , maynmyar , Malaysia, Singapore are not getting worked up due to the map ?

expecting US to support india on Kashmir ?

how about expecting US to stop giving aid to Pakistan ?

No ..we can't expect that from US ...they have their own inexplicable vested interests to splurge money on that country . any such expectation is futile . and any such quid pro quo is dangerous .

India has no reason to volunteer to be pawn in American game .
There are obvious reasons when we did not yield to that temptation despite obvious strategic edge that may have given us against Pakistan ...in Afghanistan .

a decade year old war on terror has drained more than 4 trillion dollars from American economy ...and it lost its focus from the economic slide that started ..meanwhile China pounced upon the opportunity and has raced ahead .

It is easy to start a war or enter into it ...it's not as easy to finish it off and get out ...

We better focus on our goal are recovering our economy and developing our country .

That battle alone should call for all our energy and focus .

LET US NOT GET DISTRACTED EVEN A BIT .

We have long way to go ....

we are not US to wage the useless wars ...they themselves have paid heavy price for that .

It will be wise to take lessons from their blunders than committing our own afresh .
