Satyam bags FIFA contracts for 2010, 2014 World Cups

DURBAN: Satyam Computer Services on Satarday became the first Indian company to sign up as sponsor and official information technology (IT) services provider for the next two editions of the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and 2014.

"It is a great day because for the first time in the history of FIFA that we have an Indian company supporting the event," FIFA President Joseph S Blatter told reporters here today.

Satyam is one of the four Federation Internationale De Football Association (FIFA) World Cup sponsors announced for the 2010 event to be held in South Africa and is the only sponsor in the IT services category. The other three sponsors include African telecom company MTN, American lager company Budweiser and American fast food giant McDonald's.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup would be held in Brazil.

For 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups, Satyam would develop the core IT event management system.

"The FIFA World Cups would give us an opportunity to establish our brand at a global level and take it to another level," Satyam Founder and Chairman B Ramalinga Raju said.

Both FIFA and Satyam refused to disclose the size of the deal.

"We are thrilled about the tie-up with the FIFA World Cup. This is one event that seems to be the most watched sports event far ahead of Olympics. Estimates show that the cummulative FIFA World Cup 2006 viewership at 26 billion," Raju said. For Satyam, catering to the sports segment is another significant area in terms of revenues. The IT company is in talks with other players in the sports segment. Raju did not give any names.

Satyam, which provides IT services to 170 Fortune 500 companies  , has been working with FIFA for some time providing the international football body with IT services.

"We have been working with FIFA, providing them with even management-related IT support services. Now, we are taking the relationship with FIFA to much higher-level," Raju said.

Satyam is present in 57 countries, including South Africa. Last year, it's business in South Africa doubled. Next year, it plans to open offices in Ghana and Kenya.

NEW DELHI: Mahindra Satyam is the official information technology service provider for the FIFA World Cup Soccer and has developed the event management solutions with some complex software for one of the most watched sporting events in the world.

"These solutions are enriching the experience of all fans arriving in stadiums to watch the 64 matches and ensuring seamless movement of all delegates, staff and volunteers," the company said, ahead of the tournament's kick-off in South Africa Friday.

The company's applications for the tournament cover systems for accreditation, space and material management, transportation, volunteer management, infrastructure, intranet and extranet at the veues, apart from helpdesk services.
Mahindra Satyam is one of the eight World Cup sponsors and the only one from India. It joins hands with seven other firms -- America's Budweiser, Castrol, Continental and McDonald's, South Africa's MTN and South Korea's Yingli Solar -- as sponsors.

The tournament also has six partners in names like Adidas, Coca-Cola, Emirates, Sony, Hyundai and Visa, apart from six national supporters drawn from South Africa.

I was wondering about the Mahindra Satyam boards along the field, Congrats to the Indian member, this speaks of good entrepreneurial skills. Good job, brands like Tata, Mahindra, Godrej and Micromax are in the race to become household names across the world.

.
this is about fifa 10 not fifa 99

Princeton university defines it as:

witty language used to convey insults or scorn; "he used sarcasm to upset his opponent"; "irony is wasted on the stupid"; "Satire is a sort of glass, wherein beholders do generally discover everybody's face but their own"--Jonathan Swift
