JAIPUR: An army personnel was on Saturday arrested for allegedly molesting an Australian tourist on board the Jaisalmer-Jodhpur Express.

Naib-Subedar Attar Singh was apprehended by the Government Railway Police at Jodhpur on charges of molesting the 26-year-old tourist when she had gone to use the toilet at midnight in the third AC compartment, police said.

Singh had also gone to the toilet at the same time and stopped her in the passage between the two toilets and molested her. However, when he saw an attendant he locked himself in the bathroom, they said.

The attendant witnessed the incident and informed the conductor, who summoned the guard on duty.

Singh, who had by then locked himself in the bathroom, came out after ten minutes of knocking and the guard handed him over to the Railway Police.

Police have informed the Cantonment Military Police of Jodhpur of the episode.

Women molesting and raps are the shamful acts that are continued in all parts of the world it is not matter of India or any other country where it take place.

The only thing we need to condemn it be it in India or my country or any country.

It was a criminal act and incidentally by a junior officer however the officer was caught, Do you think this news deserves space in "Indian Military & Strategic Affairs" ?

There is no seprate thread for posting all India news nor there is any Soical Issues section where to post such news so it was naturaly to go into the section specified for Indian news.


Now as far whether it was junior or senior officer or for that matter whether he was from any profession, the thing is foriegn toruists are being sexually molested/raped in India in the recent past. That is noticable.

SA indeed at domestic level these molestions and raps are manifolds but i dont think so that only such cases involving foreigners are highlighted.
The media does report such cases in case of domestic also.

Dont you remember just on NewYear Night (2008) two Indian girls were raped by a mob.

The news made ways to Media due to a Media persons i think it was ToI man if im not mistaken.

He caught the man on his mobile video and than it was published for hunting the man and his companions.

And Increase of foreigners is no justification for it SA.

I wonder most of these foreigner women were either raped in Goa or other such areas where mmmmmmmmmmmmm you know what i mean na.

Not really. Vast majority of rape cases are against women who are conservatively dressed.

There are some simple safety rules to follow while travelling in India. Don't take lifts from strangers, don't accept gifts/sweets from strangers, don't wander away from public places, and always make sure you have a trustworthy guide.

It doesn't see in fact there is nothing to justify @ this news his Innocent till proven guilty my friend & who knows maybe the woman enticed him & it might have been some thing mutual one cannot rule out blackmail either in some cases its found rather then rape or molestation blackmail was the main issue the role of the attendant is also in question could have been an pre planned assessment the soldier might have locked himself in the bathroom from the fear of blackmail or he might have been taken completely by surprise & didn't actually know what to do possibilities are always there he was caught (arrested) agreed but did a court convict him & found him guilty. these are my point now you may proceed with yours.

Is this a new allegation?
I condemn molestation of two NRI ladies, But the media said they were not raped.
Could you please provide the sources if you have better access as a journalist?

Not a single person has supported this action.

India gets many million tourists every year and as acknowledged by some members rapes and molestations are not unique to any country.

It is a matter of shame that even one incident of this nature happens to anyone in India and the law enforcement needs to be strengthened to catch such culprits and get them to speedy justice. But the medis is doing a good job in highlighting even such isolated incidents and making sure that they are followed up.

But is this forum supposed to highlight every crime that happens in India? India must be having lakhs of criminals (most petty, some more serious like rapists and murderers and some even terrorists like Dawood who is hiding in a terrorist haven) and they must be committing so many crimes. I doubt you can keep track. Even the local police is not able to do that.
