Yeah we should let Indian Army officers marry enemy nation's women like Pakistani/Chinese girls, so they can leak all the important security information of our country to the enemies. Perfect way to screw up our country's defence

I don't think entirely removing that clause would be safe, man. While I am willing to support the dude marrying the Lankan woman, there is a reason why that rule is there; to avoid agents in disguise.

Although I think that the rule should be watered down to allow certain countries that are friendly to India. I won't call Lankans friendly, but they aren't strategically hostile to us either.

That is ridiculous. What is this nonsense that an army officer marrying a foreign national will leak all info to the enemy? Do you think EVERY single guy in the armed forces will know all the "secrets" the army knows? Sheesh. Most of these guys are just doing their jobs. What does it matter if one wants to marry a foreign national? There have been other cases where senior officers have been honey trapped by the CIA and other intelligence agencies. That is far more dangerous.

Fine, even if they have such a law, then atleast let the guy go! He is not asking for anything special. Maybe in return cut his benefits or something like that, but just let him go so he can lead his life.

Since you appear to be a veteran you would be aware of rules regarding ' Contact with foreign nationals".

If the officer had disclosed his contacts with his lady love he is clear.

If not , the guy who was approached for permission by him to marry was right to ask for this which is mandatory according to the Army Order.

If he hadnt asked for this or ordered an enquiry - the superior officer would have collected a rap.
