NEW DELHI: The central government has cleared a massive modernisation plan to recruit 1 lakh soldiers to be deployed along the Indo-China border over the next five years, said India Today (IT) on Wednesday.

The move comes after increasing presence of Chinese troops along the border and reports of frequent incursions, IT said.

Sources said the defence ministry has approved a Rs. 64,000 crore military modernisation plan. It includes recruiting four new army divisions of which two would be part of the Mountain Strike Corps for offensive operations.

The plan also includes raising two independent brigades, one in Ladakh and another in Uttarakhand.

It is going to be the biggest ever expansion package for the army. It would be the largest increase in deployment along the India-China border since the 1962 war.

Why India doesn't prepare to seek revenge for the British colonization of India back then ? Well maybe China is an easier task than taking on the British. Also the British colonization of India back then enlarged the country's total land area by so much. Southern Tibet, Northeast India (Burmese land) , the seven sister states etc etc was all annexed and placed under Indian flag.

To put the facts on the board, this is purely a defensive measure by India. Raising four or five new divisions is nothing compared to the forces the Chinese have inducted into Tibet which is an equivalent of 30 new divisions. So what's the big deal? What 'revenge' are you talking about? Can one take 'revenge' with 5 Indian divisions against 30 Chinese divisions? What the heck are you talking about?

India has deployed so many fighter jets and troops near China when China has FAR LESS deployment on her side. So calling India's huge military deployment as "a defensive measure" makes everyone laugh.
