Indian Army chief meets Vietnamese generals
Lieutenant General Pham Hong Loi, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Peoples Army of Vietnam, on July 26 received Indian General Vijay Kumar Singh, Chief of the Indian Army in Hanoi.
At the reception, Loi said that Singhs visit to Vietnam is a good chance for the two countries armies to share experiences and seek cooperation.
Both sides have regularly exchanged delegations in the past and helped provide training in each others languages, Loi said, adding he hopes the ties will continue to develop for mutual benefit.
For his part, Singh expressed his delight at the results of his first working trip to Vietnam and his hope that the two countries armies would enhance cooperation in training, humanitarian services and search and rescue, and share experiences in taking part in the United Nations-run peacekeeping forces.
On the same day, Singh paid a courtesy call on, Vietnamese Minister of Defence, General Phung Quang Thanh, and officers from the Institute of Military Strategies.
