But maintaining them is damn difficult dude. Instead of An 124, we have to buy A 400M.

The GoI leases them when required. As miltiary assets they are extremely limited and we all know the nightmare that would come with the AN-124 wrt maintainability and Russian aftersale support or lack there of.

Buying Aircraft or for that matter any equipment is not a trip to the Mall.

Equipment means huge inventory of spares, servicing and so many other things including training men to maintain & service it.

You will agree such long term expenses cannot be done ' for the heck of it".

Furthermore, the services have not raised a requirement for aircraft of such size.

An-124 can only land(if they actually land) handful of bases as most of the base can't handle so large aircraft.while C-17 can land on semi prepared runway and football field.what do you think is more useful for India??
