India would have to out-compete China to copy its growth model

China proximity neighbor in the east Asia are all manufacture powerhouse when China transformed their economy powerhouse base on domination on manufacture industry that utilize China large population dividend. China is the only neighbor of India with dominant in world manfucture powerhouse, India can't rely on China for India transform into manufacture power.
China's story is part of the East Asia success.
Fundamentally, it is the people there that are different from supa powans....

India have to compete with Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand etc. for the low end manufacturing. India is not integrated into the Asian Supply Chain so it gives those SEA nations the advantage.

Countries in ASEAN will inevitably succeed due to its integration with East Asia.

East Asian populations have demonstrated rapid learning capabilities and high intelligence – skills in utilizing new technologies and scientific discoveries – and putting them to good use in production. Work ethics in general tend to be highly positive.

In conclusion, there are relatively large and fast-growing markets for consumer goods and services of all kinds.

Its success has led to it being dubbed "An East Asian renaissance" by the World Bank.[1]

He was clearly lying. Downplay India's problems, over exaggerate India achievement. What a fucking farce. I could have given a better argument than that bakd headed guy.

He is the reason why their country is so backward today, poorer than Sub-Sahara Africa....
The people there are the reason, but they always blame others, blame british who built them railway and gave them the national lingua franca, blame this blame that but not themselves.

But Indians take Sashi's words as gospel. Here we have a discussion between an Indian and an Englishman about China and India. I find it rather amusing the arguments Sashi used are similar to what the Indian members here are using. They are convinced of China crashing, CCP disintegration, social unrest, political instability, no democracy etc. and we have Martin Jacques who has a positive and optimistic view of the ascension of China.

Sashi is convinced India has cultural export: Bollywood & Yoga , what's China got he ask (sounds familiar here in PDF?) He also said China is not innovative compared to Western world.

.
The only part they got right was the call center service, but even so many people from Western companies complain about the Inglish being too difficult to understand.
Have you ever experienced their call centre services?

Thank God we do not use English in East Asia! We have our own service people speaking our own languages!

Looking in the mirror is blasphemy

He and PDF RSSers are very pathetic.
I feel bad for the real patriotic Indians.

I feel bad for Japanese.
PDF RSSers will blame Japanese if sh*ts are found on Japanese-built railways.

The first step to solve a problem is to identify the problem. They are not even in their first step yet. The only thing that stands out among Indian elites is their preposterous confidence.

Not me, but i did work with some Indians before though and i cannot say i'm impressed with their professionalism. On some forum, the Westerners seem to be making fun of Indian English and the lack of professionalism.

China model is in fact a version of East Asian developmental state. Thus, it is bound to repeat a similar feat with that of regions like Taiwan and Hong Kong and countries like Japan and Korea in industrial sophistication, efficiency and innovation.

Yet, China has another thing that Japan and Korea have never had in the post war which is political sovereignty. On the one hand, this is what makes the rise of China so painful for the West to swallow. On the other hand, this is also why it is a more difficult task for Chinese government than it was for Japan or Korea.

Now, India may have a certain legacy of non-alignment although it is being eroded currently. But, India has no cultural inclinations that China and other East Asian (Confucian) states shared, which enabled developmental state under strong governments.

So, India may achieve a certain level of development but it cannot copy China's growth model. It is technically impossible and they have not, so far. This is why they opted for skipping manufacturing part of economic development to bet on a model based on service-related industries.

The more I engage in debates with Indian members, the more I feel that we actually follow two different sets of "logic and reasoning". As the "biggest democracy" with "free press" as they like to claim, Indians are actually much more close-minded than Chinese. They simply don't have the ability to think critically, therefore I don't hold an optimistic view for India's future.

As Chinese said, it is not this term of government but this crop of citizen that is the problem. :partay:
