India working on supersonic missile aircraft

.
Helium III energy is available on the Moon and studies have proved that it can be be generated by fusion and not Fission technology, he said.

"By fission we are able to generate energy. For the future energy, you have to go for fusion technology. When you do fusion technology with Helium III you are able to get enormous power. But Helium III is not available readily. You have to mine it from the Moon, bring it and then purify it," he said.

"All these are under development. We are working on the Hypersonic technology. ISRO is working on it, DRDO is working on it...," he said, adding it was not an easy technology as may countries have tried it and failed.

Pillai, who was recently awarded the 15th Lal Bahadur Shastri Award by President Pranab Mukherjee, was here to receive the "Lifetime Achievement Award" presented by Rotary Club of Madras.

I hear about supersonic missile and supersonic aircraft.. But what the f is this supersonic missile aircraft? :hitwall: o_O

This is the most hilarious part of reporting ....

Helium III " energy " ???

Moon mining ???

Seems journo was really excited with fusion- fission -moon -mission rhymes !!!

Isn't that a civilian tech facility? I am under impression India keeps both separate.

It is mere wind tunnel testing facility - just a hypersonic one that's the difference .

anybody who has big bucks to pay to carry out testing can go there .

I do not think it's any great military secret ...

Off course the facility will keep strict lid on testing while DRDO, ISRO etc are testing their products there ...

I meant India has kept its military facilities separate from civilian ones, or so they claim. Like no exchanges between ISRO and DRDO. I am not sure to what extent this distinction apply and if such facilities can be used for either purpose.

.
The largest facility we have is 1 meter.

For more detailed tests we need larger facilities which Russia has. It is cheaper that way.

Indeed . It all begins with theoretical framework followed by simulations . once enough data is generated the
initial scalable but smaller models are made and tested and the variety of parameters are validated multiple times ...

For this the home grown wind tunnel facilities are very useful...

later when we have scaled up the model to prototype ....we will off course need bigger wind tunnel for further testing ...

the current HSTDV model - which is just a technology demonstrator is almost 6 meters long and 4 meter broad ....

ISRO and DRDO have their own separate Hypersonic programme ...
technology is dual use ...

it is unthinkable that the exchange of ideas and manpower doesn't or won't take place .

after all APJ Abdul kalam was parachuted from ISRO to DRDO to realize Agni programme which was off shoot of our SLV programme .

There is reason why the items and technology is called dual use and why it is restricted ...

as far as use of facility is concerned ...it's mere service provider .

I do not understand why there should be difficulty is sharing facility ...

off course the sanctions or embargo by some countries may prove impediment ...

perhaps that's why VSSC has its own hypersonic wind tunnel facility ...

but that doesn't stop ISRO from availing services of facility at IISC ...at least as far as the news is concerned it doesn't seem so ...

Meanwhile ISRO's Hypersonic programme to realized RLV-TD is also in parallel progress ...

here is an interesting excerpt from ISRO's Annual report 2014 .

Towards Scramjet flight testing, mission studies have been carried out and feasibility established. Qualification and flight model of the Scramjet Engine Avionics Module with High Frequency Data Acquisition Units and its sub-systems were realised. Test and evaluation of these packages for flight were also successfully carried out.
Functional tests of the ignition system of scramjet with different mixture ratios of Gaseous Hydrogen – Gaseous Oxygen were carried out. High pressure gaseous hydrogen flow control module and a module for operating the start valves of Fuel Feed System for scramjet engine flight testing were realized.

The scramjet engine frame assembly for flight and the flow duct segments made out of super alloy Inconel-718 have been realized. Qualification test to demonstrate sliding capability of scramjet engine and vehicle interface was successfully carried out. The Scramjet Characterisation flight is targeted in 2014.

I m one of the biggest fan of drdo... still saying... someone pls stop this pillai parrot... he is saying about this Brahmos A version for last 8 years... still not a single test

.
Pillai is claiming HELIUM 3 would be used for fuel in that Vehicle for that they gonna have to do mining in moon .Huhhh!!:man_in_love:

NOW which company in india would be interested to do mining there:lol:

Sometimes pillai' words really goes over the head for me

CHEERS

.
Mach 25 is hypersonic, not supersonic. Isnt it?

.
supersonic missile aircraft

You need to fly it on the ground and do the testing

You have to mine it from the Moon, bring it and then purify it

Helium III energy

WTF is he talking about

First test is of LEX or something else???
They said that first test will be carried out in 2014,any updates on taht??

first test is HFE - Hypersonic Flight Experiment - which is long overdue ...

don't know when the flight will take place ...again the scramjet will be passive only aerodynamic profile during hypersonic phase will be studied ..

May be test will take place next year ...
