Indian and Pakistan should revive and market the hockey test match series that was happening in 1985 time....it was golden moment for both the nation.

We need another sohail abbas penaty specialists

sir, if i m not wrong he was a panalty corner specialist not penalty stroke.

Even if he was also a specialist in penalty stroke. He would have given only one chance not all. :)

A good penaty corner specialist is also a good penalty striker because he is a good flicker of the ball..also in penalty corner you are surrounding with many players while in penalty stroke its only you and goal keeper so its make much easier for penaty corner specialist to score a goal :)

and yes you are right about last comment but i was saying that we need some good flickers of the balls like him if we want to be a winner :)

Congrates India :taz:

India beat arch-rivals Pakistan 4-2 on penalties to win the inaugural Asian Champions Trophy in Ordos, China today. Both teams played an attacking game but failed to score and the match went to penalties after 15 minutes of extra time. Pakistan reached the final after drawing with India in their final group match and led the standings with 10 points while India were second with nine points. In the resultant tie breaker skipper Rajpal Singh, Danish Mujtaba, Yuvraj Walmiki and Sarwanjit Singh beat Pakistan goalkeeper Imran Shah. The tie breaker was a one on one between the striker and goalkeeper from the twenty three meter line. The striker was given only eight seconds to score. The victorious Indian team will return on Tuesday.

Pakistan has foreign coach at the moment (from Holland). He has nothing to do with typical Pak-India relations. Using certain words may be his natural instinct. He certainly needs some counseling and coaching as he is going to serve till the 2012 London Olympics.

But a good victory for India, from Asia to begin with. Congrats.

If Pakistan was playing without Sohail Abbas, we were without Sandeep Singh, and Sandeep has proved throughout 2010 that he is no less than Abbas as a penulty corner specialist. Perhaps Sohail has become too old while Sandeep in mid twenties I think.
However Pakistan has better overall record against India and better performance against Europeans in last few decades. Let us see how our new coach make the fusion of Australian and Indian style. Pakistan has already qualified for London olympic. We have to compete for one last three slots against teams like Japan, Korea (ranked higher than India and Pakistan in world ranking), Malaysia, Argentina and some European teams. Tough but not impossible. I am just scared because we are not able to beat Japan and Malysia and our team have the habit to fail in crucial time. Just think, we defeated Pakistan in all four meetings in 2010, even in Asian games but fail to win the gold (we lost to Malaysia in Semi) where Pakistan won the gold and secured its place for London olympic.

Honestly saying India won by one goal margin (though it looks 4-2) as Pakistan did not take the last shot (it was irrelavent as India had saved two shots). With Sohail in team Pakistan would have scored atleast couple of their seven penulty corners.

Normally sports minister announces Monetary Reward , last Time when Indian Hockey Team won Asia cup , each player got Rs 5 Lacs as reward
I expect a similar compensation will be provided this time also , so the players can buy proper shoes

By the way u should worry about the kind of shoes ur team is likely to receive when they land in Pakistan , coz players are likely to get there heads covered in them

No my friend this is not gona happen bcoz we know they played well, and gave a good fight till the end. No matter they lost the match ITS ALL ABOUT GAME
