India wants best of relations with China: PM
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Bali

BALI (INDONESIA): Weeks after war of words between India and China over the exploitation of South China Sea resources, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao met here on Friday and agreed on the need for working together as there was "enough space" and areas for them to work together for mutual benefit.

Singh told Wen that India was committed to developing the "best of relations" with China while the latter underlined that the two countries should work "hand-in-hand" to ensure that the 21st century belongs to Asia.

"We are neighbours and also large growing economies of Asia. We should cooperate bilaterally and globally," Singh told Wen as they met here on the sidelines of the ASEAN and East Asia Summits.

To press this point, Singh noted that whenever India and China had worked together on climate change, it has had a "positive impact" on the global stage.

Visualising "cooperative partnership" with China, Singh reminded Wen that he had said that "there is enough space in the world for both India and China to grow."

Adding on this point, Wen said, "there are enough areas in our world where India and China can enhance cooperation."

Real meaning of India PM's talking is that there is enough space between India and China for both of them to grow in each other's expansion plan.

. . .
Actually, there would be much better relations if India gives up illegal control of Jammu & Kashmir and South Tibet.

They are blowing hot air your way, China. You cannot trust the snake nature of India. They will back stab you the moment you look away. Remember Nehru in '62 moved troop into your territory after claiming to be your brother.

There would be better relation between china and india if they did not attack in 1962.
I disagree with that, it was our forward policy that made them attack us.
Enemies not born, they are created of bad policies. and in the 1962 case it was Nehrus bad policy in the name "Forward Policy" that bought us a enemy out of a friend.
If when we accept that on a bebate on 1962 happens for sure we can win the hearts of the Chinese people and explore the world hand in Hand.
Its also not wise to bring 1962 in every thing that is ponted at the future of the two nations.
Past is a broken pot and we or neither the Chinese can fix it unless we invent time machine. so my advice tend to the present and future and don't dwell in the past.
If you do not agree with me, google on our forward policy and its effects on India

What happened back then was indeed tragic. If it weren't for bad policies then the conflict would never have happened and it would not have left many now in India with a deep mental scar. I am grateful for people like you who is continually trying to make peace and to be patient and thoughtful with your often balanced and non biased responses. Hope one day China and India can wipe the past off and do our bid to help promote peace and stability within the region.

its just we both are lagging compasion to each other, let me include Pakistan too there.
once we most people develop that compasion for each other the past will automatically go in history as history.
offcouser I am not talking about you and me here as we know that we show compassion to each others, I am just talking about the other members who lag that here in PDF.

Yes, 1962 was indeed the result of Nehru's forward policy. The forward policy in itself was not wrong. What was wrong was that India did not have the military prowess to support the forward policy. Had we been stronger and better prepared, it is possible that war would not have occurred. But this is mere conjecture. As a matter of principle, such adventurism and brinkmanship in bilateral relationships as was displayed by Nehru and his coterie should be avoided. Discussions and negotiations are always the best way forward. Ill advised impulsive actions based on faulty reading of the situation do not make for sound foreign policy.

OT- It would be great for our countries to work together....there is nothing to loose ...we will only become very powerfull. I hope this happens very soon.
