What's new

India wants Bangladesh land for Agartala airport expansion

Except you used to trade shots on the border with them just a few years back.
And while the current government might be sitting in india's lap, how long do you expect that to last?

So predicting and assuming "always" in the case of borders and neighbors is a bit too much of optimism isn't it?
Bd armed forces are pussy. Other wise hasina wont be in power for this long. Every thing is falling apart from economic mismanagement loan default, funding gdp numbers to dengue out break. hasina is responsible for making bd a failed state. Very sad. But I think bd ppl at least half of the country is responsible too for supporting her.

Bangladesh has plenty of land and a little population. GO FOR IT..

India should just build an Airport away from the border for strategic and long term reasons. I guess Indian does not want to spend the money as they don't see the revenue from air traffic. 14 flights a day need a single runway with a couple of buildings on a few square miles of flat land.

I was going to do a little superpower trolling.......

How exactly did you work out the GDP numbers are fudged?

All major economic bodies accept BD GDP figures.

It's an assumption. Bd ministers most of them are corrupt and liers. Just look how they running the country cant even control simple job like dengue spreading.

World does not work on assumptions but on facts.

Fact 1: Infrastructure spending is the highest in S Asia as percentage of GDP as verified by what is happening on the ground

Fact 2: Exports are rising rapidly as verified by data from the importing countries.

Fact 3: General prosperity in BD is rising rapidly as attested by massive increase in minimum wage for garments by 5 times in the last 10 years.

This is all good news. But no one cares if normal ppl are dying from mosquito bites and feel helpless because of incompetent government and the useless city mayors who came to power with fake elections. Plus bd is third world per capita 2000 country it's not big deal if we are growing 8 percent.

Yes BD is not great right now.

What matters is that the 2000 dollars per capita is growing very fast by S Asian standards. BD needs to keep this up for 10-15 years for it to become a middle-income country.

We need to remember that BD as a country is only 48 years old.

When Bangladeshis will understand that they don't really matter to us

@dray / Rain Man but but but we don't really matter to you.:whistle:

In the future when we have open borders with Bangladesh it will make sense.

If we want it, we shall get it :p:

It's a mutually beneficial friendly proposal, Bangladesh will agree if we insist. :)

Economic growth is not everything. There are other things that matter too. but that's off topic any way.
