K-15 missiles on the indian sub can only go for 2,000 km.

that means if india wants to strike China using the subs, their subs has to go to Andaman sea or towards Singapore then to South China Sea, where China will most likely use area denial platforms there in conjunction with allies Myanmar and Thailand.

But for an indian built submarine to travel such long distances, it will be a miracle if it doesn't get detected in Straits of Malacca.

The nuclear missiles on the submarines will most likely not be able to hit any chinese key cities or installations.

India will have a hard time since india's subs are limited and quite rudimentary, perhaps noisy as well.

India doesn't have many of these subs as well, so most likely india's adversaries will also try to take out these submarines when berthed in the homeport.

The JL-2 missiles on the Jin Class can travel for 8,000 km. Which means that the Chinese subs can strike New Delhi with nukes from their port of call.

I would be cautious at this development and I would say that the military gap between India and China is still not closing.

China is manufacturing equipment to take over as world Number 1. by 2035/2040.


However, this submarine is a good deterrent option for india's other neighbours.

We have one more type of missile. It's good enough to cover all of China from its port.

China already started moving in on India in 2014. There are regular submarine patrols already.

It is impossible for India to counter China that easily when its anti submarine airforce and anti submarine naval force is extremely tiny.
