India surpasses China, US as most attractive investment destination: Survey

True however I think that no matter what govt India gets in 2014 will continue on the FDI relaxation program and will make FDI in India a more attractive proposition. Both Congress and the BJP (with Modi at the front) are VERY aware that they will be measured by their economic performance record first and foremost. Thankfully Indian politics is at this stage where economic policies are so critical for getting votes. Rahul Gandhi just isn't experienced enough for my liking especially not on the economic front, Mr Modi will be a great prospect for the Indian economy IMHO.

.

I will avoid BJP vs Cong here.

What you write is correct but thats what you and I know. Investors don't invest on that ;)

We all know any party taking office will not oppose FDI but at the time of bill BJP tried. As a investor thats the thing to see what they do if they took the office.

Economic swings are common in democracies facing elections. So if I would have been a investor and looking to invest in India I would have waited till results minimum to ensure there wont be a hung parliament.

Agreed, investors hate even a sniff of uncertainty. General elections are only about 6 months away anyway so it's not too bad.....

Its not bad at all. The next govt will be cropping this FDI ;)

Its likely that US India nuclear deal would dissolve if Modi come to power. Modi is the pro Chinese candidate and very anti west.

Yes he is a pro-Chinese (particularly he is a bit inclined towards its economic model - same is the case with his take on Japan too) but not anti-west, yes he has his differences with the US on some issues particularly terrorism but for the other western nations-he has no problem, he often has some healthy interactions with their respective ambassadors in India. His prime objective as the chief minister of the state of Gujrat was to attract and promote foreign as well as domestic capital investments in his state - a work in which he has an excellent track record in his tenure as the CM and he will do the same thing when he becomes the PM for India's growth prospects relies on the capital investments made. Many countries who boycotted him after the 2002 riots are now eager to go on with him (except US) - the latest example being UK where David Cameron has said so and similar is the opinion of the entire EU. I just remember the cover-story "Modi means Business" when he was on the cover-page of the Time magazine. He has never been anti-west literally, he acts as per the interests of the state and that is what he should do and we all expect him to do the same as the PM too.....

#BTW what made you think that the US India nuclear deal would dissolved if Modi come to power and that he is anti-west????

 the fact that you even believe what the US says shows how naive you are.

The US don't want a strong independent leader. They want a leader that will follow American demands. This is why Modi won't be allowed to win the election. India is a very easy country to control for western intelligence agencies.

The Americans have always considered India as a pawn that's useful in containing China. If any Indian leader that won't kowtow to American demands, they won't be winning elections.

The US does this in Japanese elections by controlling the companies that own the corporate media to influence and control the politics.

You are a naive, the CIA is all over India.

Then I must say you should have a suitable explanation as to why Indira Gandhi was voted back to back in power and meanwhile the First Indian Nuclear Tests were conducted???? Why was AB Vajpayee voted to power and meanwhile the Second Nuclear Tests were conducted????? Why was Narsimha Rao was voted to power and Manmohan Singh was made the Finance Minister at a very crucial point of time where there was literally no presence of such giant corporate you mentioned????? Why is that the US was denied of any military base it intended to put up in India during war on terror and even today on Andaman and Nicobar????? Why was US had to take the decision to send a Carrier Battle Group in the Bay of Bengal when Indian Army was about to attack Dhanka??? Why is that even after the MTCR into effect we have now successfully developed an ICBM???? Why is that we have successfully developed our own Cryogenic engine after Russia denied us the same under pressure from the US???? Why it goes like that??? Grow up Genius exploring for a controversy theory for the subjects that don't please you wont take you anywhere....

Those are small things that even American allies defy America but in big issues like Iraq war and other US wars of aggression, India sides with the US. That shows India is a puppet.

India does not have ICBM, Agni V is an IRBM not ICBM.

India listens to everything the US tells them. Why does India always follow the US like a school boy? It's shameful.

When has India gone against the US in big global issues?

Small things :woot: are you kidding me??? - Conducting nuclear tests is the biggest global issue than any other one that the west had ever dealt with; You may take up the latest one- Iran's Nuclear Programme controversy which was sorted out recently and is the cover-story of every daily you may take up all across the globe......India did it not once but twice despite the sanctions that followed. The United States' inability to foresee or forestall India's nuclear tests, despite ample warnings, was a failure of both the Central Intelligence Agency and American foreign policymakers, US Government officials have already admitted the very same fact way back after the tests.....Before the Nuclear tests - both the leaders were elected to power but the CIA was not able to do anything despite both the leaders had a clear incentive to do the same; now where was the CIA which you claim is all over India when this all happened not once but twice????

NUCLEAR ANXIETY: THE BLUNDERS; U.S. Blundered On Intelligence, Officials Admit - New York Times

Secondly, India offered no assistance to te US in its so called "war of aggression" except the Iraq War and that only refueling facility for their fighter jets which came from Philippines. During the Iraq War, the US fighter jets were allowed to refuel in Mumbai which came from Philippines for at that time India was on the verge of a financial crisis - Americans had 80% of the votes in the International Monetary Fund and we sought a $2 Billion from the same for the revival of the economy which was only possible when we allowed the US fighter jets to refuel in Mumbai - the day we allowed them - the very next day a $2 billion unconditional loan was sanctioned by the IMF which further lead to the revival of the economy and their was nothing wrong in that....

And if that was the case you mentioned then there would have been a dozen of US Military Bases in India right now - The US asked for establishing many of them in the early 2000's for their operations in Afganistan which were denied at once. US even applied to establish some of them in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for their Drones which has strictly been denied by the GOI. Now tell me where is that CIA you talk of is???? Gone????

According your logic any country which doesn't comply with your own interests is to be considered a puppet of US may it be India, Japan, Vietnam, Philippines, South Korea or any other you name....Go get a life man!!!! The world is not going to act as per any country's desires.....

Definition of an ICBM:-

An Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) is a ballistic missile with a maximum range of more than 5,500 kilometres (3,400 mi)[1] typically designed for nuclear weapons delivery (delivering one or more nuclear warheads). Most modern designs support multiple independently targetable reentry vehicles (MIRVs), allowing a single missile to carry several warheads, each of which can strike a different target.

Agni 5 has an operational range of 5000 km to 5800 km designed with maximum payload of 1500 kg for a 5500 km range - when you increase the payload the range will decrease and when you decrease the payload the range will increase....Till now we have two of its tests successful with a circular error probability of 10 meters - one for a 5000 km range and the second for a 5000+ km range as depicted by the flight-time. Its MIRV version will be tested in 2016-17 with Agni 6 with a 10,000+ kilometres range. Anyways the range tests are not conducted to please the 50 cents army.....

India has long been a non-aligned nation and will be the same - we have our interests to look after no-matter who is standing at the other end. The GOI doesn't act to please the CPC - you have your differences with the US sort it out at your level - don't except any other country to accompany you in the same over his state interests. After conducting the Nuclear Tests we also signed a civil nuclear deal with the US for we have to address our own interests first then comes other things later......India had conducted those Nuclear tests despite the US sanctions that followed...We continued our Ballistic Missile Programme enhancing our striking range from a mere 150 kms in 1988 to 5800 kms in 2012 despite the Us sanctions that followed in form of MTCR, we continued our SLV programme despite the assistance which was denied from other countries under pressure from the US and you say "When has India gone against the US in big global issues?" - brush up your facts first. If that was the case then the US wouldn't had to send its largest fleet Carrier Battle Group in the Bay of Bengal purposely to counter the Indian advance over Dhanka and if you still think the same then no one cares what the hell you say and neither your controversy theories....

The Assembly elections are going on in four of the states which are considered to be the Semi-final of 2014 General elections; now can you tell me where is the CIA you talk about????? If it cant even rig a handful of crucial Assembly elections then what is it going to do in the General Elections??? It was not even able to do the same during the Cold-war era in which Nixon's "enemy" Indira Gandhi, back to back not only came into power but also conducted the Nuclear Tests; If it cant even do the same during the cold war era in which it played an active role let alone post cold war era......

Not even joking, I was at an Engineers Australia talk earlier in the morning, there was a speaker from AECOM (a consultant for the DMIC in India) who pretty much told me (when asked) that the investment attraction of India hinges on which party wins the elections next year.

I know how investments are made and worked in financial services for a while. I can assure you whoever told you that was stupid. And you may want to keep away from these kinds of people if they actually run investment houses.

India has never condemned American wars of aggression like Russia and China. Why? Because India is too afraid to hurt the feelings of its master.

CIA controls most of the Indian NGOs and buy Indian politicians through various means. To say CIA doesn't control India is outrageous.

ICBM definition has changed over the years. Now the modern day ICBM has to be at least 8,000km to be considered an ICBM.

Don't talk about missiles under development. Even the Agni 5 is still years away from being fully operational. And that's if they stick to the schedule but we all know India's famous delays after empty boasting.

Modi will never come to power because the CIA will make sure he doesn't. You can bookmark it. India has always been under heavy Anglo-American influence. The Indian lobby in the US is very influential on Indian politics. Indian lobby is working closely with the US government and CIA.

Deny all you want, but India does not have an independent foreign policy. Indians are easily brainwashed by the white man.

I know how investments are made and worked in financial services for a while. I can assure you whoever told you that was stupid. And you may want to keep away from these kinds of people if they actually run investment houses.

Why should India go against another friendly democracy?

I agree, India has no other option but to kowtow to an imperial power. I mean you did it for 300 years to your other master, there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't follow your new master.

You say whatever you want to pleasure yourself at night man. There is no real reason why India has to go against the US and India won't do it just coz you have ideas of fighting with them.

india will always remain neutral..................always

but scenario in 2040 or later will automatically push china, india and russia together as west and usa will both start feeling competition from india like they perceive from china now.this is inevitable.

but till that time comes we align with no one

I didn't say India has no right to go against American imperialism. You have every right to supper it just like you supported the British empire.

But don't go around pretending you have an independent foreign policy and demanding UNSC power.

You get UNSC power only if you have an independent foreign policy.

There is a reason India is never involved in issues solving the Syria, Iran, North Korea and others.

You want to be respected as a great and an independent power, you have to go against major western powers. Otherwise you are considered a pawn in the western game.

This is why India is never taken seriously by western powers as a country capable of surpassing the west. Because they know India will do what the west wants.

Russia and China never back down to western powers, we have independent foreign policies and that's why we are respected and even feared.

India will always be a country that's used by major powers as a mere chess piece to counter another major power. India will never be the major power itself.

Just as long we agree on this point, I have no disagreement with your point.
