India successfully test fires Brahmos cruise missile in Rajasthan

NEW DELHI - India successfully test fired under life extension program near the Odisha coast on Monday.
The supersonic cruise missile was tested from ITR in Odisha's Balasore.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman took to Twitter and congratulated the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the successful test.
"Smt @nsitharaman congratulates Team Brahmos & @DRDO_India for successful flight test carried out at 1040 hrs on 21 May 2018 from ITR, Balasore to validate BRAHMOS missile life extension technologies developed for the first time in India ," the official Twitter account of Defence Ministry said in a post.

The successful test will result in huge savings of replacement cost of missiles held in the inventory of Indian Armed Forces, the Defence Ministry said.
arlier in March, India successfully flight tested BrahMos from Pokhran test range, Rajasthan.

The BrahMos missile has been jointly developed with Russia and is named after the rivers Brahmaputra and Moskva.
The supersonic cruise missile was tested for the first time from a Sukhoi-30MKI jet in November.
