Why are such technologies important to India
For those of you who have followed Paris conference on Environmental change, would appreciate that countries need to do more on cutting green house gas emissions.
Unfortunately, things are stuck up owing to the fact that developing countries like India donot want to turn down production and use of coal as major fuel.
We know a significant part of our electricity generation comes from coal burning Thermal power stations, and these are some of the biggest generators of Green house gases.
Now while efforts are being put in cleaner technologies, focus is also required on reducing loss of power transmission which will actually reduce requirement of newer thermal power plants.
In view of this long distance power transmission lines operating at such high voltages are required which will significantly cut down transmission losses, contributing significantly towards improvement of air quality and reducing carbon foot print.
