India plans to train 20,000-30,000 Afghan National Army (ANA) personnel, including about 500 officers, at facilities around the country over the next three years.

Under a bilateral strategic partnership agreed during President Hamid Karzai's visit to New Delhi in October, India is also likely to provide the ANA with small arms such as locally developed 5.56 mm assault rifles and, possibly, later transfer heavier weaponry such as rocket launchers, light artillery and even retrofitted Soviet T-55 tanks that the Indian Army is retiring.

. . . . .
India - U.S backed AFGHAN.Allies of the century.

Afghanistan needs to be independent. It cannot afford to be an Indian ally, Pakistan will not allow that, increasing turmoil in the region.
GOI's aim should be helping AF to stand on its own two feet. Nothing more.

We badly need radars currently there might be only 3 or 4 small range radars under civilian use.

Anyway, what is the size of Afghan army Afghanistan is considering to maintain when US will be pulled out of Afghanistan in 2014. They already handed half of the country to ANA.

Great, Afghan army equipment with Indian ammo which needs Pakistani permission to pass..win win for all!

Just one attack on indians in Afganistan, and everythign is finished....!!! (i mean we should prepare for the Worst, and offcourse plan for the Best)

I didn't know that Indians are more professional or well trained than US military trainers when it comes to ANA training.
