Currently we dont have other good nuke launching delivery systems other than mirage for larger distances.
Hence its mandatory for us do make it offensive as well as defensive till we get other options like slbms , agni becoming fully operational and SFC's 40 planes.

At a price of $1.78 million per piece, I think they are too expensive. And I am taking the old $800 million for MICA estimates. Now that the deal has inflated to a $2.4 billion deal from $2.1 billion, I think the cost of MICA might be even more, somewhere around $2 million per missile. That's outrageously expensive.

Those who are arguing for cost factor are forgetting that our security and safety is above all.

Mirage are good as old wine and with new upgrades they will serve their purpose for sure.

We should not forget that even MMRCA deal or LCA II will induction will take time and further it will take years to be familier with them so upgraded mirage comes handy in any misadventure.

is 2.4bn inclusive the cost of 450 MICA missiles , coz 450 such missiles alone going to cost 1.3bn..
the article says , there will be another big contrect for MICA..

But i read somewhere that 1mica come at $3Million. It is dam expansive. And why not we ask France to give us permission to use this missile to our lca. coze if France win the MMRCA contest then it will be huge order of MICA more then 1000 missile for both mirage and rafale.

dude, this deal is being laughed by all Chinese members on Chinese military forums. this is not the case for the C-17 deal. we believe you guys got fooled by yanks, the C-17 is overpriced, but we still believe it gives you something unprecedented in your military history and thus probably worth the $.

Mirage 2000 is a dead fighter, only loser nations use it (yes, france is a loser). paying $48 million for upgrading one is beyond imagination.
