The visit by the corvette INS Kiltan is also aimed at enhancing maritime cooperation between the two navies and contributing to regional security and stability. On its departure from Ho Chi Minh City, the warship will undertake a “passing exercise” with the Vietnam People’s Navy in South China Sea during December 26-27.

An Indian warship reached Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday with 15 tonnes of humanitarian relief supplies for people affected by floods in central Vietnam as part of New Delhi’s efforts to assist countries in the region amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

INS Kiltan arrived at Nha Rong port under “Mission Sagar-III”, part of India’s humanitarian assistance and disaster relief assistance to friendly foreign countries during the pandemic, the defence ministry said.

The relief materials will be handed over to Vietnam’s central steering committee for national disaster prevention and control. “This assistance is reflective of the deep people-to-people connect between the two friendly countries,” the ministry said.

Mission Sagar-III was launched in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of SAGAR or security and growth for all in the region, and “reiterates India’s position as a dependable partner and the Indian Navy as the preferred security partner and first responder”, it added.

On Monday, India and Vietnam signed seven agreements in areas ranging from defence to petrochemicals and unveiled a joint vision for enhanced security cooperation to ensure stability in the Indo-Pacific during a summit between Modi and his counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The developments came against the backdrop of concerns in both countries about China’s aggressive actions. India also handed over one of 12 patrol boats being made for Vietnam under a $100-million line of credit, and Modi described Vietnam as “an important pillar of India’s Act East policy and an important ally of our Indo-Pacific vision”.

I hope India has thought through, no point in needlessly provoking China.

Although India has made some really bad choices over the last 5 years or so, but I still believe that some sane voices will help give direction to India's foreign policy.

India's ego has been badly bruised this year, any small event that will make them look stronger their media will make headlines out of it. Surely a big country(currently) with a small mentality.

This has been the problem with India, for short term gains and bravado stunts they have damaged/ compromised on long term gains.

Its difficult to predict but only time will tell what consequences India will face. India is a big country with massive population and large consumer base, but they have cashed it already. This is not sustainable beyond a certain point. With computers replacing humans in work force, large uneducated poor population at some point will become a liability on state.

Fantasies, storytelling, and bravado stunts are the core of their society. They hide their inferiority complex in the veil of this fabric. Imagine if BOLLYWOOD is taken out of their lives what would remain of them. :D

Contrary to what you believe ,India can afford to provoke Chinese. The day when they touch our soldiers the scenario was completely changed.
And noone ,not even lunatic commies talks about Chinese
Chinese wont attack us and thats for sure.
Had it been the case they could have been initiate a strike against us right after Galwan clash and when we captured the Kailas range after Aug 29 .

But we can sustain this game for a long and it is really gives an opportunity to us.
Reduce the imports from China and divert that fund for domestic industrial capacity.
Never see the DRDO steroid performance like now.
Infrastructure development is going on record speed in border.
Chinese are powerful than us but not that powerful to engulf us .A bit or correction will show the hard reality to Chinese that they made a wrong deal.
This problem was bound to happen but we are looking to tweak that for our own advantage

Again you are wrong .
Indian govt were looking for a solution to reduce the dominance of Chinese imports for decades.
This conflict gave that opportunity to India and they are cashing on it.
Now dont worry about our population.
Our investment for our population is larger than your GDP

With China salami slicing on a regular basis, maintaining an inflated EGO is surely a great feat.

You will not be that grateful when they start funding their ideology in India. You have just befriended trouble in your streets. :D

India naval warship coming to SCS is suicide. There is no way IN can win in SCS against PLAN.
Vietnam and Indian is not connected by Land. Support long range aircraft not able to just flyover and support naval ops.

While in Indian Ocean, PLAN fighter jets can easily thru friendly nation like Pakistan reach Indian Ocean and support our PLAN warship at Indian ocean.

Dude, does it occur to you that if they do something stupid in Vietnam seas to our assets, we can do the same to their assets in Indian ocean.

They have been doing it for ages. You worry about your women. Pretty soon Chinese imperialism/ colonialism with their Belt nd Road project would ensure total exploitation of everything worth the salt. Beside Donkeys that you sell them, they seem to fancy your women.

Smelly India, disgusting!

The indians are suffering from serious hunger. Malnutrition, 400 million illiterates, 600 million people lack toilets. And then continue to provoke all the neighbors. GDP per capita is surpassed by Bangladesh.

To cover up India's failure and incompetence.

Now India can only lie and boast! Lying in India is as easy as drinking water!

You cant. You fighter jet not able to reach Vietnam. While PLAN JH-7 or J-16 can easily fly from xinjiang thru pakistan and support our naval ship in Indian Ocean. We can even directly air flown HQ-9 missile system by our Y-20 to protect PLAN asset hiding in Pakistan Naval base.

Indian Ocean is not your backyard while SCS is China one. :enjoy:
