India seals $25bn Russia deal for 127 war planes

.
noice, i wonder what Pakistan response will be?? JF-17 or even J-10B wouldn't stand much a chance against FGFA
Well there is a gap of one generation. A well designed fifth generation plane won't give much of a chance to about anything from previous generation primarily owing to its radar and sensors. Also T-50 is designed as far more agile plane and hence it is in a league of its own.
so does that leave only J-31??? and I don't think J-31 wouldn't be much of a match either.
I guess we must take into account J-20 too. Unfortunately not much of data is available openly and it would be interesting to compare the capabilities of both systems.
@Chinese-Dragon @sancho

“We have agreed to a lesser work-share for a realistic contract, with the initial lot of the FGFA being imported and the rest being made here under technology transfer,” a source at HAL told the Times of India.
I would like to know what areas have India conceded. I'm not against it considering that FGFA will only be first member of family of 5th generation fighters to debut with IAF and future variants will allow India to incorporate more changes based on its own capability and industry maturity.

This $25 billion deal for FGFA and $20 billion for Rafale that adds up to $45 billion... as much as India's total defence budget for a year.
Considering this expenditure (USD 45 billion) will be over a period of 12-15 years or so, considering inflation as well, it will amount to an extra expenditure of 3-4 billion annually, hopefully not adding much of strain on other projects.

:-)
you dont pay all the money in advance.. This is the budget considered for 10-15 years project.. basically you pay some amount in advance and each time per plane

.
Every one who is saying the 2 deals count 45 Billion $ India's defense budget. :hitwall: You need to know any deal when signed the full amount isn't paid straight away the, the Initial payment of 15% is done while the deal is signed and then the rest is paid over the years while the deliveries take place. So, no worries India is not going to spend all its budget for one year on thee deal

We all understand that and its just a rhetoric to say its whole of annual defence budget. The question is the capital outlay of IAF is appr. 5 billion dollars per annum and that includes so many essential acquisitions. If these deals are signed up then IAF's capital outlay will simply have to double and that means huge increase in defence budget i.e. roughly 10% increase only due to these deals and then we have navy, army aviation and mountain corps awaiting huge allocations. Nice if we can manage without cutting on essentials.

I guess 15% of 40 is quite less for one year and also the deliveries of both planes are going to start by 2017-18 so you can consider the budget increasing by at least 30% every year from now, according to 650 Billion $ margin which is to be spent in next 7-8 years.

J-31 is quiet a match Mr don't you worry and getting improved by every passing time we would have been worried a little if it would have been F-35 that is not the case and even this jet going for mass production is at least 4 to 5 years away

.
even if this news is true which im not very sure my guess is rafales & MKIsd SU-35S both are coming

. .
Do not worry. India's defence budget costs each Indian roughly Rs. 5 per day only.

If a small chunk of that "budget" was directed towards improving people's lives - it would have been money well spent. I'm just saying :coffee:

Defence spendng is just like insurance premium. We could buy so many things if did not have to pay for the insurance. If we can quantify the gains to our economy due to stabilty and strong army, we would realize that our spendings on defence are peanuts.
