India’s Quiet Counter-China Strategy

If I were to stoop to your level, I can talk a lot about how the British made you drug addicts, probably how they sacked your summer palace and other treasures. The centuries of humiliation.

I can talk of Japanese invasion of your country.

I can go further back in history. To the time of Mongols.

I take pleasure in none of that. I only feel the pain of the Chinese people from these barbarities.

You have been consumed by hate. I can only sympathize with you. May you get better. In the next birth if its not possible in this one.

The Century of Humiliation was good motivation for us though.

Now we know how important it is to stay united and powerful, so outsiders don't try to exploit us.

Exactly.

Frankly, some people get too ahead of themselves too soon. If you know what I mean.

I thought humility was a great Chinese trait. In this age of globalization perhaps.......

But these fanboys are fun too.

gpit,

Let us take it easy.

If you wish to use historical events to be derogatory like British used India, then one could also draw your attention to the Opium War and the 100 Years of Shame.

Let us debate the issue on merits of the points or else it will become another mess and would do nothing to increase tolerance and understanding of each other.

Must we work to hate each other?

On the side note, that user can't help but use smileys when referring to the Mumbai attacks.

China still needs at least ten more years to build up our capabilities, before we can truly "arrive" on the world scene.

Ideally I would prefer to wait 20-30 years, but then again I have always been a cautious person.

And even after we arrive, I think China should still stick to the "non-interference" doctrine. Although when it comes to resources (in Africa for example), that might be difficult to adhere to, even in today's world.

That shows some serious inferiority complex.

Perhaps trying to be macho on the net helps.

Did the doctor prescribe trying to be macho twice a day?

After breakfast and dinner?

gpit: Frankly I don't think it worked for you. You still have the same disease after years of trying.

Time to change the doctor perhaps.

You just talked about it. There's a reason the Chinese don't rebuild the summer palace. I also can't think of a single notable building in India that's actually Indian. Oh yeah, that's right, you're a British creation.

Well, I am not sure what you mean by "arrive".

If it is a reference to monopolizing of resources, I can only say: Let's wait and watch.

In many other respects, China has already arrived. You are a global name. Any visit to any store in the world would confirm that.

I also can't think of a single notable building in India that's actually Indian.

Is it our problem if you lack knowledge about Indian architecture?
By the way, what do you mean notable building?

Oh yeah, that's right, you're a British creation

Like i said before, thats like saying the Qing dynasty created you

I don't mind your ignorance. You know little and have no appetite to learn as well from the looks of it.

That is the point, I would prefer to delay it.

I am a great fan of Deng Xiaoping's advice, "keep a cool head, and maintain a low profile".

But the cat is already out of the bag, unfortunately. Now the problem is that people are actually overestimating us, by a wide margin.

One small example, a recent poll I saw in the Economist showed that more than half of the American population believed that China was already the biggest economy. When in fact we are FAR away from that point. We are still a developing country with a large amount of poverty and a low GDP per capita.

People are expecting too much of us, especially in terms of things like Climate change. Our carbon emissions per capita are still five times less than that of the Western world.

I think India can learn a lot from this experience. Better to let people underestimate you, rather than the other way around.

Thank you. It helps me to understand the sad situation that he wanted to drag all into.

He maybe one, but I will take his posts at face value without judging him.

I try to remember that that forgiveness has begun when you recall those who hurt you and feel the power to wish them well.

I would like to be energised by the fact that Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.

Here is an example of beautiful Chinese architecture.
