India’s Internet economy to reach Rs. 10.8 trillion by 2016

I worked for McCann Erickson Bangladesh, Bangladeshis still don't believe in online shopping. Even the new generation, we just dont trust our money to a computer :P.......i buy most things online though. Our customer service and consumer protection policies are also a joke. You can't return a product for a full refund. How is that going in India?

Customer service of websites like Flipkart is just awesome .
They refund the money instantly if U cancel the order

Once flipkart shipped a game disc to my home .. The box cracked during shipping ..
All I had to do was send it to them and they shipped a new copy .

The replacement warranty is 30 days by flipkart and 1-2 years by the manufacturer

.
offtopic.....i am thinking about opening a Debeer's diamond store in dhaka. I know India has DeBeer's...i was wondering if kolkata has it. Can anyone enlighten me on this?

Dont know about scene in India, but here in UK, you have more rights if you buy online(you can return it without any question asked within 7 days, even without any fault).
Once amazon enters India, the customer service will really improve, they are very generous online shop. :)

You live in UK. You cannot possibly know about Indian online habits, how its changed over the years. Personally, I have bought several products on flipkart, bigadda, junglee etc. My online spending has easily exceeded 20000 rupees so far this year. Flipkart does a 10 crore business a day. It became a billion dollar company in 3 years. Potential is massive.

Actually BD can really utilize India's expertise and experience in IT sector..

I like BD... I dont know why some BD guys hate India.

I regularly visit India, I was only saying I did not buy anything online in India. Others may be doing.
That is because I can easily buy everything from shop in India, and I like going to shops. :)
The internet penetration is also too low and quite slow. Among those who have internet only a minority of people use it for buying goods( may be etickets, bank transaction a bit).

Only broadband penetration is low .
3G , Wimax services cover almost whole of India .. People can use those to access internet

Brick and mortar stores will be a story of past in a decade .. Already many music/video games shop have gone only online

Customer services are already very good , competition is also very good and discounts/deals are just awesome which brick mortar shops could never compete ..

Amazon bought Junglee .. They have entered in India but haven't started their operations yet
Storehouses , logistics will be ready in few months :)

Flipkart is awesome and so is letsbuy ...for people like me who live in villages buying even a pendrive locally is not a good deal ....recently i wanted a new penm drive locally they only had moser baer 4GB drives that too for Rs 350 a piece ....so decided to get one online and snapdeal.com was offering a 16GB pen drive for Just Rs 510 applied some coupon and got the price down to Rs 360 :woot: :

Strontium TNT 16GB Pen Drive - Black - Buy Pen Drives Online at Lowest Prices on Snapdeal.com

i got the coupon form recharging my mobile from paytm for just Rs 10 :

Online Recharge- Recharge Prepaid Mobile Airtel Vodafone Reliance BSNL Idea Uninor Aircel MTS Tata Docomo Tata Indicom MTNL Loop Virgin & Online DTH Recharge

Shipping is free ....the drive comes with 5 yrs warranty and i selected cash on delivery even though i am from a village they had this option which is a added bonus ...so yeah sites like snapdeal have changed the way i buy stuff now.

I think the local leeches will be wiped soon as they cant compete with prices like these lol

This could also have an adverse affect on local small businesses. The internet is basically WalMart multiplied ten thousand times.

Competition bro competition
Even local businesses are going online
Some clothes and jewellery shops already take orders online and then provide home delivery

If U don't change with times then you will become like Kodak

But the customer service really sucks :fie:

Have you ever shopped online ??
