India-Russia jet deal hits turbulence over 'technical worries'

I did read the whole article Algeria returned 15 Mig-29SMT and I just wondering if they were refurbished or new.

and at the bottom it's talking lack of skill workers so yeah.
Usually Algeria buys new, so they were new... with faulty parts, just 15 on a total of some 40+.
Bottoline is lack of skilled workers, old machinery, lack of natural resources due to the split of the USSR, and too much subsidies for not much avail. And mostly, joining the army in the newrussia is not attractive, civilian competition is tough and the army can not compete salarywise for engineers and scientists.

PAKISTANIS live in world of their own.

In this world

The F16 is the greatest fighter in the planet bar F22

regardless of what technology arrives in future

TVC engines
Pesa Radars
Faster longer BVRs missles

Nothing comes close to the 20 year old F16 especially in the hands of the skillfully PAF.
Oh pot calling kettle black, need i remind you that while there's no Pakistani term for the F-16s, however we often hear the Indian fan boys referring to the MKI as ''Raptor of the East''.... the familiar pattern of previous egg in the face with tall claims of ''Sabre slayer''.
Here's a history lesson, over the last 30 odd years, over 4500 F-16s have been produced most of which still serve with over two dozen air forces around the globe....during this period the Viper has seen extensive combat in both major conflicts and minor skirmishes and despite dozens of air victories, not a single F-16 is known to have been lost in air combat, now you tell me apart from some fancy low speed maneuvers, what does the likes of MKI has to show for it's self. !!!

So according to you MKI is not a match infront of F16 ?????

I have never said anything to that effect, however according to experts, like any aircraft it has it's advantages and disadvantages.....imagine executing the Cobra at combat speed. !!

out of 4500 only 2900 still serve and being rapidly depleted.

PAF has shot down F-16 in air combat. Now you know what i am talking about don't u? :smokin:

The main feature about MKI thrust vectoring is that it can do an on the spot turn to deal with a bogey on it's six. That is a real headache for anyone trying to get on the MKI's tail.

While Block-52s and 60s still rolling off the production line.
PAF has also managed to crash IAF aircraft without being anywhere near them....A Gnat over Amritsar to be precise.....do you know the story. ???......in any case, blue on blue is not exactly unheard of.....this includes first IAF 1971 war kill.......
In, WVR combat, TV may force the chaser to overshoot but any one else out there with a decent sidewinder round ....in any case with all this BVR scenario.....the whole game changes.

Wasnt this article discussed and rubished off...some people need to use the search forum tool more often.

People comparing a single engine light medium fighter to a twin jet heavy class fighter. SOME BRAINS.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT- F16s nemesis is the Mirage 2000. To supllement the numbers , will roll in the mig29smts,
Thats enough for countering pakistan for now.

From F-16 you have descended to a Gnat level. Seriously?

Only reason countries are buying first hand (not Pakistan) F-16 is because of US influence. They can buy Russian Su-35 which are superior to F-16 blk 52 in every aspect. Much cheaper as well. If the Raptor was legal for export not a single F-16 would be in production today.

Additionaly the F-16 which had 5 different production lines is down to a single production line at Fort Worth.

I only brought in the thrust vectoring aspect as you were negatively commenting on low speed manoeuvres. BVR changes the whole game and soon METEOR will change the game again. If it proves successful that it but then again MBDA has a good quality standard.

BTW WHICH 5TH GEN FIGHTER IS PAKISTAN LOOKIMNG TO BUY?

oh yes.....MORE USED F16As and Bs from friendly countries.Hail f16!!

more inputs :

The first Block 50/52 F-16 was delivered in late 1991

And the money?? :D
The best their money can buy is the chinese fc-1.That is going to be the backbone of their airfirce for the next 30-40 years. THough they would love for more f16s, sadly..no...

No need to underestimate PAF. They defeated IAF soundly in 1965 when they had a qualitative edge.

Although today they have only 18 4.5 Gen fighters compared to our 200+ 4.5 Gen fighters.

After they induct 150 JF-17 they should be able to induct 2-3 squadrons of Chinese J-31 over 10 year period.
