Russia-Pakistan military exercises is a watershed event. This comes on the back of RD-93 deal and impending MI-35 helicopters and SU-35 fighter deals

It is a reflection & confirmation of the upward trend of the improving relations between Russia and Pakistan

Both the incumbent governments of Russia and India wants this to happen.

Russia is humiliating India to show its unhappiness while the GoI wants to use this humiliation as an excuse to move even further towards the West... The fault lines are getting clearer by the day.

At best it is embarrassing and worst it is an ominous sign for India.

In 1961, USSR sold MIG-21s to India while denying the same to China. Indo-Russian relations would never reach that relationship.

The sooner Indians reconcile to this fact that Russia is not USSR and plan for alternatives, the better and less painful it would be..

Your CAMPAIGN against India Russia relations is totally foolish ; and delusional

We know the importance of Russia ; so why do you expect us to believe your unending nonsense

It is not a campaign but laying out the facts.

The first step to resolving a problem is to reconcile and accept the facts of the problem (no matter how embarrassing and painful they may be) and stop being delusional.

Putin is coming to India around October 15 ; we will have many deals with them

SO kindly forward your suggestions and advise to MEA ;
that what we should say and Not say during his visit

Do you think that ENTIRE MEA is full of duffers who dont know the importance of Russia

The present exercise ; as it has been told to India is that Russia would like to interact
with Pakistan and learn from their Recent experience

So they are doing it for their own good and this step will not hurt India

The only person who matters in the incumbent government is Mr. Modi.

All other ministers are (educated) rubber stamps...

PM is hell bent on moving India towards the West at the expense of Russia.

The plan is to complete this by 2019 to ensure that even if a non-BJP government comes back to power in 2019 it would be almost impossible to recover from the damage done by this government.

Hence it is prudent for India to not get into any further deals with Russia and plan for replacement alternatives for the current equipment.

Seems like India & Russia are going for a slow and painful divorce.

How does this impact the availability of the existing Russia equipment and future procurements. What are alternatives?

Current Equipment
=================================================
T-90s
T-72s
SU-30MKI
MIG-29s
IL-78s
IL-76s
MI-17s
Tu-142M
Nuclear sub (leased)
Brahmos
S-300s

Proposed Equipment
===================================================
Ka-226
Super Sukhoi Upgrade
FGFA
S-400s
Brahmos-M
MTA (Dead)
Yassen Sub

Strategic Fallout
=================================================
Loose Veto at UN
Loose support for NSG
Increased Russia-Pakistan defense ties

Nothing much impact on on going defense deals just Russia will look into other market to sell new toys which India ignores Like SU-35 fighter.

What your expectations from money starved Russia? They will look around for new customers for sure.

India getting a talaaq? Who will take care of her now?

There is no marriage but a brotherhood. Russia was once a super power and bailed out India multiple times, even when your country was being formed. Right now Russia is not a super power and India must make allies elsewhere. Thus while we expand our circle of 'friends', we don't forget family. October 15 will put all naysayers to rest.

Relationships are always evolving. Asia has a lot to gain from co-operation rather than a continuation of the status quo.

i am not a fan of russian weapons. but i would do everything to maintain friendship with russia

You are, for once, absolutely wrong here.

This is just another way of diplomacy. Please do not make assumptions bereft of any logic.

With the present state of affairs, the Russians have opened a conduit for negotiations and de-escalation. If such a rationale has to be explained to you, then I am sure we can as well just call it a day.

I had expected you to reach this conclusion by now.

Few things you must be very clear on:

1. Contrary to what anyone says and I mean ANYONE Russia is also wary of Takfiri ideology and militancy and insurgency in the name of Islam. You need to look at their Republic of Chechnya, which is a potential powder keg.

2. Russia will not be willing to associate in propping up a country which has been increasingly coming under fire for relations to every terror attack. The charge of 'non-state' actors may/may not be accepted by individual countries, but the fact that every attack is being traced to territory under GoP puts an impression of unwillingness/inability of the GoP to eradicate the same.

3. Breaking off all conduits of negotiations and diplomacy is not exactly a very bright idea. However, in the current scenario wherein the passions are inflamed and there is a mighty distrust of US in Pakistan and India too, Russia, but naturally, fits into the role of a facilitator at reduction of present levels of tensions. That Russia is seen solidly backing China and China seen as a backer of Pakistan, naturally consolidates the potential role of Russia as a facilitator.

Now please stop posting any more childish derivatives.

Also, let the exercises begin and conclude. It is merely speculative. Russia will not be doing anything to further inflame passions on either side of border. It is, contrary to its tendency and Western efforts to portray it as such, not an irresponsible power.

Your inputs?

The Russian are doing an excercise in Pakistan and this makes Pakistan believe that they will stop selling to India. Nonsense has reached new levels in this forums seriously are we have 5th grades as members now?

even when your country was being formed.
You were "formed" on the same day in the same month in the same year. And before your head starts shaking "India was there". No it was not. British India was. The only thing you have up on Pakistan is you got the the same name - that means nothing. One hour prior to Indian Republic and Pakistan becoming independant thee was British India. That was dissolved and the successor states took over the assets and land. One of them was you.

And just to clarify have a look at map of British India and then what became of it.

Burma and Yemen are not really part of traditional India. They were part of British India for a while

The point is not if Russia would stop selling the weapons to India or not rather why Russia is being forced to do military exercises with Pakistan.. When the RD-93 engine and MI-35 chopper deals were done people claimed that they were not strategic in nature and Russia too needed to diversify to support its industry. Now how do we defend a military exercise ? Russia does not make any money here. These military exercises demonstrate intent..

In the last two years the incumbent government of India has taken many steps to please and enhance the relationship with US. If the government had taken even 10% of such steps towards Russia, India would not be in such an unenviable position it is in today.

Here are some of the deals with US

1) Drug Patent deal (first day in office)

2) Paris Climate change deal

3) Waive Nuclear liability for Nuclear deal

4) Allowing GMO foods

5) LSA deal (CISMOA & BECA in progress)

6) A long list of Military procurements (Apaches, Chinooks, P8Is, M777 light howitzers, Stinger missiles etc.)

7) SCS partnership

What has India procured any thing substantial in the recent past from Russia?

On October 25, 1962, when war with the United States was potentially imminent, the Soviet newspaper Pravda published a front-page article that put the entire blame for the 1962 war with China on India.

The article called the McMahon line, which New Delhi accepted, 'notorious', 'the result of British imperialism', and legally invalid.

Pravda also accused India of being incited by imperialists and being the main ringleaders of the conflict. The Soviet Union's hostile attitude contrasted with President Kennedy's generous help to India in its hour of need. This made a deep impression on the Indians.

Now look at the pictures being used for this war exercise. You have the map showing J&K as part of of Pakistan and Russian by participating in such military exercises are providing legitimacy to Pakistan's position.

In the above video people saw Obama joining Modi but what they missed was that Putin left with Xi Jinping and Modi missed the Russian bus.
