India-Russia Divorce and its impact on Indian defence

.
What makes you think they wont fight each other for the states? China will try to get access to Indian ocean just like russia tried to get warm water port. And you think pakistan will be happy with what it gets? World is not enough my dear.
India is too warm for Chinese.

Of course China would surely get to Indian Ocean but not through an Indian state but by taking over Myanmar. Getting to Indian ocean through Northeast & Bangladesh would be a nightmare to handle and would negate the benefits of reaching Indian Ocean.

India is too warm for Chinese.

India = Warm Welcome

China = Cold Shoulder:D

You're kidding me.

We have no interest beyond Kashmir.

One step at a time.

irrelevant and illogical china aint gonna buy anything in future (they gonna go indigenous mostly) and name 1 country who can replace india and whoever said pakistan bangladesh and sri lanka pls pass the joint

the best would be Russia itself. it's issue is that it's military industry is too large for its economy now. hope it can solve this imbalance.

Well, there is a substantial problem that came into existence with the signing of the logistics deal with the US, the latter might be able (although covertly) "to take a look" at the Russian best gear in India.. That is quite dangerous for Russian military gear, its own as well as its clients', since they are mostly not Western aligned!!!

I just don't get the OP. Why are you assuming that India is moving away from Russia? @dadeechi

Some of India's biggest defence projects of the future are tied with the Russian industry. That level of cooperation is not seen and is largely not possible with any other country.

One needs to understand.

Russian military sales to China at the expense of India was due to economic reasons while
Russian military sales to Pakistan is to irk India

Russia silence on Uri incident is the ominous sign of the things that are in store...

It is not just LSA but LSA (signed) + BECA (would be signed in the next 6 months) that sounded the death knell.

LSA would give access to all India bases while BECA gives permission to inspect equipment.

Unless India segregates Russian equipment bases from US equipment bases (which is not feasible), it would very difficult for Russia to sell any strategic equipment to India going forward while India is not interested in anything but the strategic equipment from Russia which West would never sell to India.

Even France & US supplied military hardware to China when relations were good between them & the West before the Tiananmen incident. Russia is not economically very strong - they cannot afford to turn away huge deals especially from China.

Besides, China is a close military & economic partner of Russia, especially after international sanctions on the latter following 2014 Crimean incident.

Our relations or deals with Russia does not mean we can dictate what Russia does with other countries.

What exactly did Russia sell to Pakistan? RD-93 engines (through China) is an old model with negligeble performance figures. A handful Mi-17 transport helos are not weapons. And Russia has been consistently blocking the re-export of more capable engines like the AL-31F series to Pakistan (through China again), that ensures that what Russia allows for sale to Pakistan is always at a much lower technological tier than what India is supplied with.

That's one of the reasons why the J-10B/FC-20 deal between China & Pakistan could not go through.

Russia silence on Uri incident is the ominous sign of the things that are in store...

Silence? What, are news not available where you live?

http://www.firstpost.com/world/russ...indias-counter-terrorism-efforts-3011486.html

Russia (and France) are the only two countries that actually mentioned pakistan by name in their condemnation of the Uri incident. You need to keep up with news, and please stop spewing BS.

The OP is trash.

AL31F engine is also used in the Chinese 5th generation fighters which Pakistan is looking forward to acquire.
Russia did not block sales of any enginers..RD93 is not procured directly since Pakistan is manufacturing and assembling large percentage of JF17 on its own...
