India reestablishes diplomatic presence in Kabul, IAF also flies in earthquake relief materials

All it is some help to the earthquake hit Afghans.
Pakistan can do their bit by letting India use land route to deliver bulk commodities.

The India-Taliban relationship got off on a wrong foot during the hijacking of IC-814. Subsequent to the event, Taliban's official stand was that they only acted as intermediaries and had no beef with the Indian government. The two have been placed in antagonistic positions during the Karzai-Ghani tenure, and this time India's official stand was that we are not providing any military support.

Official stands matter in diplomacy, but even less so during crisis situations such as natural disasters. The Taliban have also requested India in the past to resume normal operations at their embassy in Kabul. One must understand that the Taliban and Indian government are not officially antagonistic to each other. India treaded with caution when Ghani's regime was overthrown and rightly so. If Taliban show no hostility to India, there is no harm in having at least neutral relations with them.

I know it might sound absurd but somehow I feel Afghanistan under Taliban may become like Iran. Relatively wise and sovereign government compared to other Muslim countries and prosperity to the level of Iran to the extent possible under sanctions.

They have got what they wanted. Americans are ousted and rebellion is mostly quelled. Now they need to prove that they are administrators too. Which means maintaining good relationships with other countries, curbing extremist outfits like IS, promoting meritocracy etc.

Indian teams headed by a joint secretary-level official reached Afghanistan's capital by an air force plane on Thursday
India has reopened its embassy in Kabul, CNN-News18 has learnt in exclusive information shared by top government sources.

The momentous move marks a big step towards the reestablishment of ties after India had to take a step back following the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan last year.

Indian teams headed by a joint secretary-level official have reached Kabul, said the sources.

All this is being done to undermine Pakistan in the region. No sympathy for any earthquake affectee by a RSS mindset.
But the good thing is let indians get a taste of namak harami. Trust me it's a delicacy over there. You must try that at least once in life ;)

As ridiculous as it may sound, I feel Taliban will be exactly that. Taliban are the last people to expect sanity from, yet they are the ones who will be sane, mark my words. It's early days and the present hardship will pass. After two misadventures by two superpowers I don't think any other power has any desire of adventure in Afghanistan in a long time, so there will be peace for a long time. I also have another less than rational hunch, the Afghans were a ruling race for many centuries in that region and in India too. They may have found themselves backward in the 20th and 21st century but I don't think their national/racial traits of being rulers have vanished. 20/30 years on, it is to be seen between Pakistan and Afghanistan who turns out to be the dominant one.

There is no external threat to Afghanistan anymore. Any threat is from within only, in the form of extremism. The question is how will they tide over their financial mess. Right now no one is interested in helping them. They literally made appeals to European leaders to meet them and help them, but there was no reciprocation. Maybe with time relations will become better.

China is the only party that may be interested in exploiting their natural resources (not sure what they are), and as part of their BRI project. I hope the Taliban are able to respect their people's desire for peace and progress. I have seen some very depressing documentaries from that place.

Soon they will recognize the govt. as well.
yes unlike our neighbour we are not a lap dog,
India will side with Russia or US where ever it want and depending on what is suited best for its citizens

India imported 50X more russian oil this month than it imported April, India will call out hypocrisy of EU if they raise allegation against India
and Shabaaz / Imran ki hawa tight ho jaati hai (g**te muh me aa jaate hain) if asked to criticise Xinjiang

Afghans have other minerals.

Yeah they're rumored to have large reserve of various minerals but I don't know if it's more hype than reality. For foreign mining companies to come and invest they need recognition from Western countries or China.

It's established. Look it up.

Almost all countries in the world have minerals worth trillions of dollars, the question is how much efficiently and economically one is able to extract and process them. And no suppose if any country's company want to mine resources in Afghanistan then agreement between their govt and afghan government is enough, no need western or chinese approval.
