India prepared to face the Chinese threat : Air Force chief

how do you know that Pakistan cannot manufacture a bike chain? I do not know of a bike that is assembled in India. Forget about bike chains manufactured in India. I believe that when it comes to manufacturing, India is in the same level as Pakistan. Maybe India is a little better. But Pakistan is a small country ravaged by violence and religious extremism. How come India is only a little "better" than Pakistan is beyond me as India is the self claimed largest "democracy". As many here adviced, Indians should not look at themselves as much better than others such as Pakistan, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka as India is backward and poor as these countries. Get off the high horses.

what?

India is worlds 7th biggest car producer.

we build world's cheapest car.

we have world's biggest refinery.

do SL, Pakistan BD have these capacities? ( sorry SL, Pakistani, BD members but i have to reply him )

so how can you say

That is the height of shamelessness.

India prepared to face the Chinese threat : Air Force chief

*India prepared to face the Chinese threat : Air Force chief - NEWSPOLITAN
New Delhi, Sept 1 : In response to the US official reports of China deploying nuclear-capable missiles along the borders with India, the Air Force chief said the country was not 'worried' over these developments as it has own plans to deal with the situation.

"These are all known, it is nothing that we are worried about. We have our own plans and we are moving ahead with our own plans. These are the realities we have to deal with," Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne said in reply to a query.

The Air Chief Marshal was releasing the brochure for the upcoming two-day 6th International Conference on Energising Indian Aerospace Industry beginning from September 22, 2011 in Delhi.

The US Pentagon reports have said that the Chinese People's Liberation Army has deployed nuclear missiles along the borders. The Chinese government has, however, denied the US reports.

The Indian Navy also denied reports of a London-based newspaper that a Chinese warship had confronted its assault vessel in the disputed South China Sea after it left Vietnamese waters in late July.

"The INS Airavat returned from its scheduled official deployment to Vietnam without any confrontation with a Chinese vessel," Navy spokesperson Commander PVS Satish said in a release.

When asked what India can learn from China in developing its indigenous aerospace industry, the IAF chief said: "One thing that one could learn from them is that they don't attempt to do everything themselves."

"Once you start the Research and Development and then wait and wait, then you make it the test-tube model, it takes you 20-30 years to finalise the project," Browne said.

However Browne was of the view that China got a fair amount of technology from outside.

He said that Chinese were spending a lot of money on R&D. In case of Indian Defence public sector units the investments in R&D is comparatively low.

Is it just me or does any 1 else too find this strange that every time something happens, IAF chief is the only one coming out and making bold statements like these. I thought India was a democracy, so technically speaking this should be the duty of the sarkar to come out with statements like these followed on by the army chief and the rest. But i haven't seen that. Does IAF chief has a personal problem with both China and Pakistan.

Why are you proud when India produce the world's cheapest cars?

In another matter, India should have more domestic industry as it has more people than its neighbors. But its industrial capability is closer to that of its neighbors and other dirt poor 3rd world country. Its not something to be proud of.

I'm still waiting for someone to post the per capita GDP of India as compare to its neighbors.

Tell that when Pakistan become the 2nd largest steel manufacturer in the world and own the largest steel companies in the world.

Yes we are backward and poor as these countries since you still live in the data presented by some pathetic reporter BBC in 2001.

According to the 2010 data, the 2nd largest steel production by country is Japan. India ranked 5th. Why would you want Pakistan to compare to Japan when India cannot even compare to Japan.

When you have screw up data, you make screw up statements. India should be proud of its developments in the last 20 years. But per capita wise, its still a very lowly and backward country. Until its per capita is close to that of Taiwan, which is still 1/3 that of the US, it should not boast too much. In another word, leave the boasting to your grand kids.

we all are proud that our nation is able to produce world's cheapest car.

we do really have a strong domestic industry, which is of course stronger that our neighbours (apart from china)

Can you provide me a link to the nominal GDP. I understand the usefulness of calculation by PPP but its too subjective. Also, when India buy hardwares from the US, it pays in USD, not PPP of some currency.

Also, India do have some industries. However, you were taking my quote out of context. Indian industry is very minimal for the size of its country. Do you have a per capita industrial output data for India vs its neighbors. And also compare it to countries like Malasia, Thailand or Indonesia. How is India's industrial output per capita when compare to these countries. Thanks

Its because unlike brainwashed/easily gullible people in many other countries ( not specifically directed anywhere) the Indian public is too intelligent to be convinced by the vague assurances by any Govt spokesperson . I doubt Chidambaram or Pranab Mukherjee would know the capabilities of the MKI or how it would match up in a threat scenario against a number of Jf17 s or J 10s .

On the other hand , the IAF air chief being the technical guy at the highest level and also the official face of the Air wing of our defense forces , knows exactly where we stand as regards our capabilities and is also candid and bold enough to admit the truth about any deficiencies . Hence its his responsibilty.

Basically the public would rather hear an expert than a layman in such critical matters.
