Besides BD uses 95% of its irrigation from underground water unlike India (We know what we do). We need over ground water to preserve bio diversity which India is also stake holder, ofcourse if it think civilized.

Hardly matter. We don't need transit.

We will not lose anything but Bangladesh will lose more. Bangladesh needs India not we need her. People are living in dream world that India needs her. Bangladesh is neither strategic important nor it can be any helpful in any way for us. It's Bangladesh need India for Water, Money and 20 Million Illegal immigrants. Once BD will become enemy of India, We will deport back all Illegal Bangladeshi from India with the help of few Gurkha Regiment and Assam Rifles in north-east.

Why India would be hungry for transit ? Without transit also, nothing is going to change. Transit doesn't make difference. We have Strong naval base in Arabian Sea. We have all link from Kashmir to Arunchal Pradesh. I think BD is giving too much of importance to herself that it will effect India. It's not. Indeed, it will effect BD in long run. Bangladesh needs Tista water and Transit was just a whole NE development plan. We always have Plan B and even C.

Transit deal is also unnecessary hassle. It doesn't affect india. They'll find some other way to get around.

Finally peace can prevail in the region. AL just earned some respect from this ordinary citizen.

We have 150 million people in such a small place. The fertile delta with 3000 rivers were supporting this large population for centuries. But we can no longer sustain this population growth. Depriving people of water is now the only way to cut down the population. Best of all, we urban middle and rich class don't take the blame.

Let us be clear about one thing. Do you think that India is the conscience keeper of the world? Which country sells its own interest for another? BD? US? China? Russia?

If others look after their national interests, why do you think India should do otherwise?

Do you really think it matters to India whether there is a AL or BNP Govt? They are all the same with a very marginal variation. Both look after their national interests and it need not be that of India's national interest. So, the Govt of BD, no matter who is the reigning queen is just a case of Teedledum and Tweedledee. It is you Bangladeshi who go over the top feeling A is closer to India than B. To us, they are the two sides of the same coin!

India will survive with or without BD.

And depriving water to the North Bengal people is perfectly fine?

And with the large number of Bangladeshi legal and illegal (not only in India but around the world to include ME and Malaysia [thread there on this forum]) why worry? You 'small' country with a 'large' population as you mention will merely 'export' more and everything will be fine!

India will definitely survive without BD. And looking after it's own interest is no sin. I'm not complaining.

Problem is india gives too much importance to little BD. Sending the PM for a few MoU's and transfer of a few acres of land was absolutely unnecessary. All we ask for is to leave us alone in our insignificant existence. We agree on that, no?

Bangladesh Population growth - 1.4% P.A. (India 1.3% P.A.)| Current Population ~ 160 Million (+ 20 Million living in India which will be sent back after 2014)

If Current Growth continues, By 2100 Population would be 700 Million. In Addition, many parts of South Bangladesh will be under water too.

This is the biggest problem for Bangladesh, Unfortunately, GoBD and it's people are not doing enough to tackle biggest problem. The time when they will realise it would be too late and too little. India is not going to help as we have our own billions of people to feed. They are wasting precious time on small issues and not biggest issue.

@Indian friends.....This is ridiculous part of GOI that they changed the deal in last moment....I agree the frustration and anguish of BD gov perspective. After taking so much of pain of facilitating India,in their internal politics, this was not expected out of the GOI....Again as usual Congress style of messing up of the foreign relationship....And the funny part is CM of GOV is above all of national intrest???? Idiotic and stupid reason of CM of WB and its corresponding handling by Congress Gov.... This visit by PM to BD is a complete failure....
