If Kerala had the only coastline in India then I would agree with you but sadly its not. Its not even 10% of India's coastline.

So take a closer look. Gujurat anything near Bangladesh/Burma is a secuirty risk due to proximity. Goa is a tourist destination. Other areas are affected by Naxals. Kerala offers Naval related facilities and has a big accessible port.

Your argument is far away from reality. Please google for Karwar Naval base, what it is and where it is located. Also Mazgaon Docks, GRSE Kolkatta, Vishakhapatnam docks. Kerala has one of the biggest docks and naval bases but its wrong to say its only there that we can make a base. India has bases/docks all around its shore and thats what makes starategic sense.

Also Gujarat doesn't have problems with Burma/Bangldesh. I think you meant West Bengal.

Of course it's not only there, but you form research centers around the most capable production hubs, that's why Bangalore is now our center hub for the aero sector. With the Cochin docks beeing the only once capable for building carriers or heavy class vessels, the location is not that surprising.

I don't disagree with what you have said. My comment was only meant for those who have been saying its the only place.

Also Aero sector and shipbuilding in India is not comparable. Unlike Aero which is now consolidation in Bangalore the Ship building know how is distributed all around the Indian coastline. E.g. In North west Mazgaon docks is building both our Destroyers and Scorpenes, Coachin is building Air craft carrier, In the east Vishakhapatam Nuke sub and GRSE in the north east our corvettes.
