IF a UAV spot a high level target or big group of terrorist. Its better to shoot them right on the spot instead of waiting for Jets to take off come to designated area and then fire. USAF didn't kill Baituallah mehsood, Hakim ullah Mehsood by spotting them on UAV then sending F 16 to drop bombs......They shot them as soon they spot them with UCAV. So howcome we dont need UCAVs......

Beacuse here we are talking about your country and not some alien land where your Army cannot reach....When mehsood was spotted by UCAV he did not know wbout being spotted....So yes you can easily get the job done by UAV and then sending your fighter jets/ Attack helis etc....

UAV will give you the much needded intelligence and your jets will do the job thereby not putting ground soldier at risk by being exposed to terrorist cross fire...

Anyways this is a matter between Pakistan and US...They need to do what they think make sense...As far as India is concerned we all know whom these weapons will be used agaisnt and are preparing accordingly

I am sure USA is not naive. They know what they are doing by enhancing Pakistan airforce. But I am not sure about you.

Thanks for sharing the videos...Good one's....What i am getting from you is that Predators are a must to fight terrorist but what i am trying to say is that no they are not....Now mind it i am not saying they are not effective...all i am saying is that you can get the same job done by UAV and your fighters...Since UAV will get his/their location and you can use other effective measures to get the job done...

If i go by your logic then every country who is fighting terrorist needs UCAV...Don't they???

Anyways as said in the previous post it is a matter b/w US and Pakistan...All we know if predators land in your hands whom they will be used agaisnt so we preparing accordingly...

May be we are jumping on gun guys...US is not selling/giving Predators to Pakistan...All they are giving is UAV not UCAV....They are not Naive..One of this predator might land up in some secret lab in China which then would be reverse-engineered and there comes a brand new UCAV better than predator...

However Pakistan closeness with China might be a big roadbloack for Pakistan to be included in the list of those friendly countries that US wants these Drones to be sold...Secondly nothing is mentioned on how they will defy MTCR...so relax...

Atleast 3 drones have been shot down inside Pakistani territory in the past couple of years. 2 of the drones went down within a week using some special anti-aircraft guns. I guess your fears are coming little late and those drones might already be there where you and USA worries the most. So relax and wait what comes out with "made in china" written on it.

If you want to kill target instant
Why not get the LOITERING Missile ( Armed UAV ) which are KAMIKAZE type of weapon
They can loiter over you target for long enough to give you useful accurate data and when required can destroy it completely
Which in a way are smarter , accurate than hellfire missile, less collateral damage and provide you valuable data by loitering over target for 30 mins , plus another advantage is they are Cheaper.
IAI - Harpy/Harop and Raytheon have built them for years

Why you need long range Drones armed with Hellfire missile , I have read enough abt them and collateral civilian causalities that occurred in Pakistan when US fired them on PAK border.

I believe all WOT of Pak is happening in country's border itself (Waziristan or at the max line along Afghanistan border), you don't have requirement like US or Israel who have built it for long Range operation to target Iran or something

Well good luck with that... i see nothing wrong in reverse engineering because when weapons are fired in anger they don't do less damage because they are reverse engineered unless and until one manage to build with same quality...

What is all the fuss about? US DRONES will not reach Pakistan, not now anyways not until Pakistan is able to make one on its own, only perhaps then there may be the slightest possibility otherwise a big No. India is reading too much between the lines.

Yes a very interesting incident this was. The full story is,

On December 23, 2002, an Iraqi MiG-25 shot down a U.S. Air Force unmanned MQ-1 Predator drone, which was performing armed reconnaissance over Iraq. This was the first time in history that an aircraft and an unmanned drone had engaged in combat. Predators had been armed with AIM-92 Stinger air-to-air missiles, and were being used to "bait" Iraqi fighter planes, then run. In this incident, the Predator did not run, but instead fired one of the Stingers, which missed, while the MiG's missile did not.

Mig 25 was hell of a platform. Predator messed with a wrong one.
