The best coffee is served in India. Drinking coffee outside India has been always a disappointment..yuuuck.

I haven't yet develop taste buds on my tongue to tolerate the kind of coffee western world drink. The best coffee to me is the one I used to drank in Indian marriages, Indian coffee house Chandigarh and coffee sold in Chennai on bicycles.

I wonder how many would agree with me but I always feel shortchanged after a visit to Starbucks, CCD & the like.

No value for money.

you must be leaving too early...i sure get my moneys worth out of CCD...spinach corn sandwich in CCD is best..

would be nice to see how starbucks competes with CCD and barista :)

they will beat your CCd and barista in major Urban area, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, in small towns where they won't get in, barista and alike will stay alive.

bad news for Indian's same industries. But overrall its something good offered to world business.

You have no idea how big CCD is in India.

And their range and quality is definitely better than starbucks.

Not really. CCD etc have a huge presence in all major cities. The products and services they offer are of the same quality ( if not better ) than Starbucks.

Indian markets simply do not work the way pakistanis may want it to. Im sorry.

remember you middle class are pro-western, just as many of you.

I know an Indian friend bought a huge load of Shampoo from the US, just as gift, told me his relatives gonna like them. It's a stylish fashion way of consuming. to CCD, it's a negative message.

going by the trend i believe each brand has its own demographic . the college teen and slighter older prefer CCD . working professionals prefer barista . costas is an up and coming brand. but i doubt star buck will make a dent in these guys share. lets be honest, who will pay 200RS to a coffee?

thats is the most generalized statement of Indians i have ever read.
big time anthropologists cant make head or tail of our likes and dislikes , not one poll can tell who is going to be the next CM , everything changes once you touch down in India. so while we do like the western way in many respects , don't forget the desi twist . if things don't suit us we discard them

I think that phoren maal novelty wears of too fast, next time his relatives wont be impressed.
Also, once starbucks opens shop it is like Indian shop, it has to Indianize itself.
MTV realized soon, channel V did not.

Depends on the quality of the product we don't always go for brand name. I can afford to go to CCD or Starbucks but instead I have a cup of nescafe filter coffee because it taste good and is value for money very simple.

i am from mumbai and here CCD is more prominent than barista...CCD rocks :)

Its CCD which is all over India.

In my city Delhi you will see a CCD around every corner.

I have seen CCD in hill station like Masouri or city like Jaipur (There is one in Amer Fort too, it was a great experience of having a cappuccino in royal fort of Rajasthan :smitten:)

These days you can get any branded shampoo in India they sell all types.

I was once listening to a few Pakistani on TV channel. The guy was saying we Pakistanis were happy with our imported Cars Mercedez and laugh at India's TATA cars but they were happy with their own national brand. Look now, TATA has become international brand and we have none.
