India offers to protect China oil shipments

The bottom line is its India who needs China more than China needs India.

One statement that is totally misplaced. Do you know that the Chinese economy is an export oriented economy? China has artificially controlled its currency to have an exchange value that is favourable to export and ensure that Chinese have an upper hand when it comes to price. The goods manufactured in China are enormous in volume and for China to sustain its current growth late will have to depend heavily on the world economy to recover and find its foot.

India on the other hand is a diversified consumer oriented economy. India is dependent on the world economy for various aspects but is not export centric. The domestic demand in India is growing at a scorching rate with rural economy kicking in. The Indian don't need the Chinese and the Chinese don't need the Indians. But the Chinese need a global market (including Indian markets) more so than Indian dependence on foreign markets for its exports.

India is the biggest market for China in terms of year on year growth and this is something China cannot ignore.

.
most of the Chinese do not consider Indians as their enemies.. and also they consider the fact that Indian civilization had been much friendlier to Chinese than any other civilization in the world. Secondly for some of them India is their Holy land as their major religion (Buddhism) was born in India.
General public of china thinks that Pakistan is sitting on the lap of US.

Jana, this is clearly a desparate attempt by India to get the Chinese to see that it is cheaper and easier to accept Indian Navy guarantee then to build and hopefully walk away from building a port in Gwadar.

It is foolish and un planned on the Indian behalf.....after all the silly Indian rhetoric against China, this year alone....now they think they are going to stretch out some sort of olive branch......

India has serious issues with sticking to a script, like 26/11 when India went into avoid mode of not holding talks with Pakistan due to attacks unless Hafiz Saeed is convicted and other demands met, and now they are holding talks having to climb down from such a strong position......

On one hand they threaten China and talk about sending more troops to their broder and disputed territories and now they are realising China is going full speed ahead with Gwadar, especially after China showed an interest in building a base overseas, most likely Pakistan.....this is bad planning and India should have compensated for this strategy by their think tanks long before rather then having to climb down again and make a desparate offer like this......

However, I do agree with you Jana.....why would China wants Indian Navy helo when they couldn;t even stop rubber boats rowed into their own shores.

It would help to know the difference between the task of a NAVY vs a COASTGUARD....

Quit the "Mono" like behavior in trying to tug others line...

I have read enough of rant on this forum and it seems to deteriorate with every new thread.
Here is a post which says that this CLEARLY is a DESPERATE attempt by India to stop China building a port in Gwadar.

Jana, how on earth did it CLEARLY strike that this is India's hour of DESPERATION. Did China declare war on us or is India in some crisis? Enlighten us if that is so obvious and clear to you. Using strong words for no apparent reason is the hallmark of cheap posts that clearly show desperation to seek attention!

It is foolish and un planned on the Indian behalf.....after all the silly Indian rhetoric against China, this year alone....now they think they are going to stretch out some sort of olive branch......

Just a moment ago you said it was clear what the Indian plan was. Now you think it is foolish and on top of that you sound confused as to why India is extending an olive branch after all the rhetoric. You start by making up your mind what the grand Indian plan is and that is to stop China from Gwadar. Then we get foolish and then you seem confused. All in a matter of few sentences.

India has serious issues with sticking to a script, like 26/11 when India went into avoid mode of not holding talks with Pakistan due to attacks unless Hafiz Saeed is convicted and other demands met, and now they are holding talks having to climb down from such a strong position......

One thing is clear that you do agree. We were in a strong position. It is subject to debate whether we continue to be in the same position. Let the talks begin and you will know.

Hold on a bit ... lets understand your POV (rant is more apt). Do you seriously think the whole of India is dumb and you are in a better position than the Indian think tank! Well done Jana. I just want to say that a thin line marks the boundary where confidence ends and arrogance begins. Let me know where you stand. BTW, fix your typos before you post.

Oh exactly. Our coast guard was not functional and we could not stop a bunch of lunatics. But wait a minute. In one other thread you were having a different conspiracy theory involving Colonel Purohit and the Top cop killed on 26/11. Now that seems to have vaporised right? Going by the contradictions, all I can say is that you can do better to make :pdf: a better place. BTW Navy and ccoast guard are two different functions. Hope you are not confused over this as well.
