NEW DELHI: In the aftermath of the Tral encounter which ended in South Kashmir on Saturday, Defence expert Wing Commander (Retd.) Praful Bakshi on Monday said retaliating when attacks have happened is a wrong policy, adding that at least two surgical strikes in a week should be done by India.

"We must retreat in their area and show that Azad Kashmir (Azad Kashmir) is our area and we will take it. At least two surgical strikes in a week should be done by India," Wing Commander (Retd.) Bakshi told ANI.

"The government said that they will take appropriate steps but that does not mean that they will increase the security officers. This is a wrong policy that we will not attack but only respond when attacks have happened," he added.

Echoing similar sentiments, another Defence Expert Major General (Retd.) P.K. Sehgal extended support to Army Chief Bipin Rawat for his strict action message that those who would help the militants would be punished.

"If these things are happening continuously that the Kashmiri youth are supporting the militants and injuring, killing our people then the nation has to accept that and act accordingly," he added.

As many as two terrorists, three Army personnel and one policeman were killed in the encounter that broke out at Tral in south Kashmir on Saturday.

Wonder if they mean, two strikes every week or just a one off for the record.

Tral was just a regular encounter in which two terrorists were trapped by our army during a search & cordon operation.
Both terrorists were eliminated though unfortunately one local policeman was martyred.

Surgical strikes will be conducted in response to fidayeen attacks.

Have you informed Wing Commander (Retd.) Praful Bakshi and Major General (Retd.) P.K. Sehgal of your intentions....after all three internet warriors are better than one.

Wrong info.
Only one policeman was killed.
A policeman was also killed while four forces personnel, including an army major, two soldiers and a CRPF trooper, were injured in the encounter

Defence expert
He is entitled to his views, nothing wrong with that.
However Surgical strikes or such operations are always associated with an element of surprise and if done regularly as suggested, they cease to be useful. Besides Indian army has categorically told that their target are the launching camps located near LoC and associated infra-structure. Nobody wants a war but eliminating such elements is well within rights of Indian Army.

Once we start supporting Balochi's you will not sleep after that. Only one mention of this place and your entire nation was crying for weeks.
And you talk about supporting Kashimis, you cant even support your own people.
First feed your hungry soldiers before you start to box above your weight.
You tried your best at supporting the likes of BLA.....when some half million of your troops can't contain a few hundred militants in IOK.....you can only mouth off above the rest.

When you spread a lie for a temporary false glory, it becomes a liability. People will demand a surgical strike every time there is some trouble in ever-troubled india, and their government and military knows very well there is no way in hell to do that without triggering a full scale war, which will be devastating for them.

Prime example of political immaturity displayed by a bunch of opportunist right wing extremist hindus.

You obviously aren't aware of where India stands on various Human Development Index indicators.

...and you are supporting / financing / hosting Baloch militants yet they are still getting crushed and surrendering in record numbers.

The economic development / transit that CPEC will bring will change the landscape very soon. Keep trying your best.

The real joke is that a country 6x Pakistan's size and with a much larger economy and army really can't do much. We can keep supporting terrorism in each others' countries by brainwashing kids and hiring mercenaries but it won't get either of us too far.

LOL , Baluchistan is not a disputed area and Kashmir is .. so We can start supporting other non disputed areas of india where freedom fighting is going on..

your top brass is crying like a baby ...
