Prime Minister Narendra Modi today hinted that India may have successfully developed a 'THAAD-type anti-missile defense system.

Narendra Modi today hinted that India may have successfully developed a ‘THAAD-type anti-missile defense system.

Speaking at an election rally at Budaun in Uttar Pradesh today, PM Modi congratulated Indian scientists for developing one of the best missile defense systems at a time when a number of countries, including Pakistan, are busy developing missiles.

PM Modi said that the new system has been successfully developed by Indian scientists and it can destroy any incoming missile at the height of 150 kilometres. “I want to congratulate Indian scientists,” he said,

Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system is one of the recent addition to the US’ anti-ballistic missile arsenal. It has been designed to hit missiles as they dive towards the earth, not when they go up. THAAD can engage with incoming missiles at the maximum altitude of 93 miles above the surface of the Earth. It seems Indian scientists have also developed a similar anti-missile system.

PM Modi didn’t give much details of the new system. However, he took a dig at the opposition parties by saying that the latter would now ask for “proof” about the new system. Earlier, the opposition had asked for proof of the Surgical Strikes carried out by the Indian Army on terror launch pads in Azad Kashmir on September 29.

During the speech, PM Modi also attacked the Samjwadi Party-Congress alliance for the ongoing Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections and said that SP government has made UP unsafe for women.

In December last year, Pakistani army had claimed to have successfully test-fired an enhanced version of an indigenously-designed cruise missile that couldn’t hit targets at 700 kms with all kinds of warheads, bringing many Indian cities within its range. Called ‘Babur’ after the Mughal invader, the missile is part of Babur Weapon System version- 2 and is an enhanced version of the earlier missile, said a PTI report.

The US has announced it would deploy THAAD in South Korea to neutralise the threat from North Korea’s alleged Nuclear ambitions. However, this decision has irked China and become lead to a rupture in Sino-US relationship.

Modi talking about this test in a election rally in UP. I think it was a big test. PMO was involved. He is talking about the test with capabilities to go beyond 150 km altitude.

We can develop. We have a BMD system ready with long range AESA radar technologies. Another High Power radar is in development.

Proof is weird, how dare proof be demanded. It has been proclaimed thus must be trusted, especially since it is in a political rally where only honesty is spoken.

India successfully test-fires interceptor missile off Odisha coast

Balasore, Odisha: India on Saturday successfully test-fired its interceptor missile off the Odisha coast, achieving a significant milestone in the direction of developing a two-layered Ballistic Missile Defence system. The interceptor was launched from Abdul Kalam Island or Wheeler Island of ITR at about 7.45 am.

This mission, termed as “PDV mission is for engaging the targets in the exo-atmosphere region at an altitude above 50 km of earth’s atmosphere”, said a Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) official. “Both, the PDV interceptor and the two stage target missile, were successfully engaged,” he said.

The target was developed for mimicking a hostile Ballistic Missile approaching from more than 2,000 km away was launched from a ship anchored in the Bay of Bengal.
In an automated operation, radar based detection and tracking system detected and tracked the enemy’s ballistic missile. The computer network with the help of data received from radars predicted the trajectory of the incoming Ballistic Missile.

The PDV that was kept fully ready, took-off once the computer system gave the necessary command for lift-off. The Interceptor guided by high accuracy Inertial Navigation System (INS) supported by a Redundant Micro Navigation System moved towards the estimated point of the interception.

Once the missile crossed the atmosphere, the Heat Shield ejected and the IR Seeker dome opened to look at the Target location as designated by the Mission Computer. With the help of Inertial Guidance and IR Seeker the missile moved for interception.

All events were monitored in real-time by the Telemetry/Range Stations, at various other locations.

If so then marvelous achievement..
I am sure he wanted to make Pakistan more paranoid than trolling Yadav & Pappu
