Firstly, In another thread I read in the OP that some lawyers in UP when approached by Hindu-Muslim couples for marriage process ( Muslim male ) these lawyers send WhatsApp message to Hindutvadi groups, like Bajrang Dal, and these groups don't allow the civil marriage to take place and they also "take care" of the Muslim man. So the lawyers are being crooked instead of upholding the law. So I suppose the laws need to be tightened and inter-faith marriages need to be encouraged by revised Constitution laws which include jail punishment for families who do violence against their children who choose to marry someone of their choice, whether of same religion or another.

Secondly, in India right-wing groups are running riot, including against people who wish to marry of their choice. The police has failed to stop these right-wing groups. So I wish that India's military take action against right-wing groups just like Musharraf-led security forces raided the Lal Masjid in Pakistan. That action is very worthy to replicate in India. But sadly, at best India's military is Centrist when it should have leaned to the Left and helped remove anti-social elements from society.

The Indian Armed Forces do not control India. A fascist militia known as the RSS controls India.
Even so, Indian Armed Forces are no longer as secular as they were 50 years back. They have better things to do ( such as shelling Pakistani civilians) than running to protect interfaith marriage couples.

Subramanyam Swamy either is a "closet secularist" exposing the real rightwing ideology by pretending to support it or really believes what he is espousing. Back in 1991 he had earlier condemned the attempt to demolish the Babri Masjid.

Indian women, particularly in Telengana started wearing the burqa after their spouses started working in Saudi Arabia. It was the influence of the Gulf petro dollars that changed the culture. Prior to that the burqa was rare, confined to older women, Younger women wore a chador or dupatta

Among my own relatives none wore the burqa about 20 years ago. I think what changed the dresssage was not only direct and indirect influence of the Gulf but also increased activism of the Tablighi Jamaat.

For that matter in Andhra and Telengana Hindu women are seen to be wearing the burqa also . This is possibly a carryover from the time spent in Saudi Arabia where I have seen bindi sporting Hindu women wearing black abayas while shopping ( anything for the money ) . It could possibly be a protection from rape. Other than the mass rape and murder during communal pogroms, Muslim women in burqas have seldom if ever been raped. In normal times masquerading as a burqa clad Muslim woman has advantages.

There is also the "Hindu" niqaab, or colorful scarf wrapped tightly over the face and head by scooter riding young Hindu working girls and women common in the streets of Hyderabad . The ostensible argument is that it "protects the make-up" from dust. A helmet and visor would do the same thing. Actually it is a protection from harassment and affords an anonymity to their lifestyles particularly when venturing out and dating.

Karnataka 23-Year-Old Stabbed For Travelling With Woman Of Other Religion

The police have taken 7-8 people in custody and are looking for four others from the Bajrang Dal who were involved.

Bengaluru: A 23-year-old man was beaten and stabbed in Mangaluru in coastal Karnataka on Thursday for travelling on a bus with a young woman from another religion in an incident that comes in the wake of divisive right-wing rhetoric and laws across the country.

Mangaluru Police Commissioner, Shashi Kumar said, "On Mangaluru city outskirts yesterday, around 9:30 pm, a bus was obstructed and a boy and girl who are classmates and friends, belonging to different religions, were made to get down from the vehicle. The boy was beaten up - and when the girl tried to come in the way, she was also hurt."

"Seven or eight people are in custody - and four from the Bajrang Dal who were involved will soon be arrested," he told NDTV.

"The four men came in a car and stopped the bus. The boy was beaten and also received a stab injury near his hip. He is in hospital and his condition is stable," Mr Kumar said.

The police said the young woman was travelling to Bengaluru and that her classmate was with her in a private bus to help her as he was more familiar with the city.

"They were classmates and the girl told us she had known the boy for many years," Mr Kumar said.

A case of attempt to murder has been registered against those responsible. Special teams have been formed headed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police. The police are also investigating who shared information about the two young people.

Dakshina Kannada district in coastal Karnataka has seen incidents of communal tension in the past as well.

An increasing number of cases of religious intolerance have been reported since a renewed push by members of the BJP, which governs at the centre and in Karnataka, for laws against "Love Jihad" - the right-wing conspiracy theory of Muslim men seducing Hindu women to have them convert.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah joined the campaign in Assam last month, promising laws against "Love and Land Jihad". Such laws have already been adopted in states like BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh that discourage inter-religion marriages by listing conditions like a judge signing off on the relationship in advance.
