There are many projects in the pipeline. It is time they are realised. As for tourism, the just concluded Tawang Festival was a major boost to tourism in the state.
A railway line is coming upto Naharlagun and another to Pasighat.
A airport is also being developed near Itanagar.
There are talks of opening the Bhutan-Arunachal road for better road connectivity to Tawang and West Kameng District.
Floods are a regular feature in IOST (Indian Occupied Southern Tibet). By the time Indian authorities get their act together, get through the jungle of Indian bureaucracy and have a patrol with relief reach an affected area, the Chinese would have already completed the required relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction work done. Not only are the Chinese efficient and better equipped the northern and eastern edges of IOST are easier accessed through Tibet which is her mother territory.

I don't know about the timeline and cost, but the railways have completed survey in some places and land acquisition is in progress.That's nice because a few friends of mine who were with me in Delhi (Arunachalis), had to everytime take a longer route to reach their home towns in the state.

There are no local players in the state per se. I think it will entirely come under AAI like the Gaya Airport and not many airlines would start services there due nto lesser number of passengers. If, however, the costs are not too high, travelers from Arunachal prefer airways as it saves a ton of time.What is the interest of local players in airport investment? I know this may sound crazy but a small airport with the assistance of AAI and a public-private investment would definitely be better in services and would enable create competitive jobs apart from enhancing connectivity.
I just wish they can bring down the effing state fuel taxes and octroi for airlines. Of late the air fares are getting too expensive to fly around.
Enlighten me on this one, but wasn't this in discussion since a few years back? In fact, there were even talks of putting Railways from India to Bhutan (due to significant Indian tourism in that country)?
I mean look at this:
Putting railway lines through Bhutan (by paying them a transit fee and assuring local jobs for the locals) would be an excellent plan if executed. The Railways is really pushing capacity in Siliguri corridor and if we have to increase connectivity, I don't think the chicken's neck will be able to take the pressure in the near future.
Wonder how come our government never thought about this one.
Surely the Bhutanese won't mind an economic proposition like this whereby even their local jobs are created.
