World's largest economy?
India will get to no higher level than "middle-income" before the inevitable forces of disintegration do the job to this multi-ethnic nonsense of a "country".
By 2030 we should comfortably be world's 3rd largest economy, and eventually we will be world's largest economy, it will take a few decades, but will happen.
Lol nice try.
Despite having 1.3 billion people, your economy is smaller than Tokyo metropolitan area. That alone tells you that population isn't everything and it will probably continue to matter less in the future as technology replaces more human labor. Yet you have the optimism that India will become the largest economy just because it has the largest population in the future.
Qatar is one of highest when It comes to per-capita GDP- almost 80000 USD Today they have problem with the availability of drinking water and food-
India already is a big economy- due to purchasing power- The price which they pay for a water melon in Tokyo is enough to feed a small Indian village-
Irrelevant to bring Qatar into the discussion when we are talking about the largest economies.
Lol the PPP argument.
You would Lol- I understand since its beyond your understanding that It is value which matters not the numbers- Water is wasted in rainfall rich areas while people pay for It in the desert-
In Tokyo- watermelon costs $200 for that amount- A truck full of water melon can be bought in India- A single water melon would be 1/7 to 1/5 of a dollar in India-
Sorry but if we are talking about the size of an economy and its influence, the common metric used by economist, politicians and the media is Nominal GDP.
PPP is only useful when combined with per capita to determine the standard of living.
Hmm.
China is an $11 trillion economy growing at 6.9%.
India is a $2 trillion economy growing at 6.1% (even with Modi's magic trick in recalculating Indian GDP growth).
China adds over $1 trillion to our GDP every year, which means we add an entire India every two years.

Nominal is not a true Indicator of economic capability- yes It is important when It comes to Global Trade- But the availability of resources and purchasing power cannot be ignored there also-
I doubt USSR even at Its peak- crossed 2-2.5 trillion $$ mark in Nominal terms- Even today Russia is a Global power and Its projection is only 2nd to America in spite of having lower Nominal than Hongkong, or Tokyo-
