India Lets U.S. Down on Iran

^^^ See, as long as you have people like Sonia and Manmohan running the show, such questions will be asked. Get a PM like Modi and the chaps will shut up.

i hope the americans punish the indians for not following the american lead.

what gives india the right to disobey american orders?

india has and will always be a puppet state of the western world, nothing more, nothing less.
india served the british empire, now its time to serve the american empire.

the US expects its subservient lapdogs to follow its lead, india just made its master very angry.
india has and should not be allowed an independent foreign policy. hope the americans keeps india under their control just like how they did to japan.

there are only 3 big countries with an independent foreign policy, US, china and russia.\
the rest of them are just subservient slaves of each of the 3 big powers.

somebody pls clean the gutter oil from his head..:moil::moil:

Why this obsession on Iran? Is it simply the Israel and Saudi factors or something else? This attitude of 'you are either with us or against us' can only harm the US in the long run. Many posters here take this as a sign of Indian defiance of US diktat. An outpouring of anti-American sentiment. In reality it is neither. India is not being anti-US, it is just being pro-Indian. It does not serve our national interest to join the US led sanctions against Iran and that is why we are not doing it. Period.

.
We look at thing from our perspcitve, and sometimes it does not match with that of US.
For example US thought for quite long, arming pakistan is a good idea, as it is an ally. Fair enough.
We see Iran as ally too, and cannot lose one for other.

About munsi's idea of US not propping us as regional power anymore, well it will be better if we prove it thorugh merit than their help.

.
This is why no one will help india when she is in trouble , a fine example of back stabbing her friend

. . . . . .
I don't understand what Mr. Burns feels so "down" about. Some questions for US, if it wants our total cooperation on everything:

- Will you cut your ties with Pakistan for us?

- Will you stop your cartographic aggression including from broadcasting global services like Google Earth?

- Will you guarantee selling us oil if we stop buying from Iran? Will you let us drill in Alaska and let us buy oil from you at global market prices with no premium?

- Will you stop supplying weapons to those who are a threat to us?

The answer for all this is going to be:

NO. Because it is not in our strategic interest.

I think the same answer is applicable to all of us here.

Our trade with Iran will not hurt Israel who is our valuable friend. We are not having any military deals with them. So commercial deals should not be hurting anybody.

I don't understand why the hell should we toe sanctions that are NOT approved by UNSC.

this thread is about india not china

But you should be the last one talking about loyalty after what you've done with US and Soviet Union both during 80s and after that.

At least apart from Iran we and Americans share a lot of common concerns and still we retain our old friends.

India is still far from being a superpower. So one step at a time.

We are hardly a superpower. It will take us another decade to reach where China is today, let alone reach where US is. For US it is easy to say because they have 100% guarantee of oil from Canada and South America and even if this part of the world destroys each other, US won't be affected.

India like China still need that Iranian oil. And convenient due to geography. What do they expect them to do? Fall back on their economic growth just to please Western interests? That's not how things work.

Exactly!

Fair enough. But Mr. Burns should understand that India never was a major non-NATO ally. It was a Cold War era foe to begin with.

We have our independent stand like you said. While we are against nobody, there are times our choices do match with some or the other countries. We all are here to stay on this planet and it is best if we can work by circumnavigating each others' discomfort zones. That is smart foreign policy.

Do not be naive enough to expect things to change fast Mr. Burns like as in:

"Oh look! I am a Democracy, you are a Democracy! Let's be pals! **** China! **** Iran! **** Pakistan! **** etc! Let's go mess them up :smokin:"

 He should look at Saudi Arabia before saying this.

You hit the nail right on the head.

:D

Lastly America is not a very trustworthy, stable defence ally. It doesnt hold its sway over the world as its once did. It is time
you stopped dictating terms to people.

On the contrary America is a very trustworthy ally if you

1) Be a good boy, as Korea and Japan, let her station troops and pay for it.

2) Be a white country and toe her lines, as in NATO nations, Australia, Israel..........
