what a automatic reactant you are... you should have read your own source carefully...
1. her family, like all sanghis and indian "nationalists", put religion ( in this case, corruption of islam ) before progressive ideology ( modern socialism )... they rejected the socialism-based system in iraq... if she had stayed there, she would not have been "honor killed"... india also does not have a socialist system.
2. they fled to usa where they were received gladly by the anti-socialist anti-saddam usa government... as a side track, the males among such exiles were the among the ones who formed the first terrorist gangs in the invasion of libya and syria in early 2011.
3. her husband and brothers worked for the same usa military which had invaded socialism-based iraq in 1990 and 2003... her husband and brothers were traitors to iraq and therefore had been welcomed by usa government.
4. she wanted to divorce and her daughter was refusing to agree to a arranged marriage most probably being forced by the father and uncles... this would have led to her supporting her daughter adding to the tension of her own troubled marriage... in true islam, the wedding and marriage procedures include marriage by compulsory consent and a proper procedure for divorce... in this case, both things were being negated by culturally corrupted understanding of islam... in iraq, both she and her daughter could have appealed to the socialism-system enforced courts but in usa she would have felt helpless.
so why do you blame islam or iraq for her "honor killing"?? you must blame usa government for trying to sabotage the iraqi system because she would not have been killed if she had lived on in iraq, unless maybe she lived in the rebellious and reactionary south or the north... so blame the usa government and the british government and nato.
how many times must i repeat that true islam brought rights for the ladies for the first time?? right of divorce including.
you should read about how the indian female rights activist, flavia agnes ( a christian ), was driven to despair when she wanted to divorce her husband.
islam gave ladies that right 1400 years ago... let us disregard the corruption of islam in various societies and address your main allegation of "some religious societies".
you pick one thing ( dhimmi ) but leave out what culture was there in india... caste system, sati, extreme capitalism etc... and when you say "my religious nonsense", what is the nonsense you speak of?? i just mentioned divorce rights for ladies?? is that "nonsense"??
really?? you want to validate brahminical oppression against socialistic islam?? is there any common ground??
i don't understand why you a kerala christian are so keen to toe the sanghi line.
it was only two months ago that a dalit student intellectual in karnataka was threatened with finger-chopping by bajrang dal terrorists.
now what the sangh believes in is certainly religious nonsense, unless you think it is not.
